Everyone Murders

Nothing good happens after midnight, something, something.

You seldom "win" a confrontation with the police.  Doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, you're not "winning" that confrontation.  (Not that I necessarily like that reality.  But it's something most people learn before they go to college.)

game to get in trouble.

Link

Reggis tackled the Auburn equipment manager after the game and stole a game ball, which, of course, he autographed and posted on instagram. The link includes a video of him attacking the equipment manager.

Can't make this stuff up.

Still can't believe this story is real.   You get throttled 31-10 by a mediocre Auburn team, then decide it would be fun to assault an equipment manager, grab an Auburn football, autograph it, and post to Instagram?   All the while knowing that it's 2015/16 and someone will capture this event on hi-def video?

That's some kind of stupid.

...specify "bicycle patrol officer"?  Is it a regular practice to say car/motorcycle/foot patrol officer? "Yeah, coach, but he's a bicycle officer, and I'm not taking any crap from a bicycle officer."

Unreal. Sorry, but how can you be that foolish two days before your bowl game?

I was hoping tcu would hang 70 on oregons defense. They may still hang 40+ but what a bummer. And Oregon lucks out again.

Baylor is a lot worse than TCU when it comes to ethics. Not to mention their whole fanbase consists of a bunch of bandwagons that are the least liked by anyone in Texas.

Sorry, I know it isn't funny but I had to smile when it said the police officer injured his knees and I remembered how tall Boykin is. That is such a small joke.

As a law enforcement officer, this is a disappointingly ignorant statement.  Each day people in the profession go to work with the goal to do the job right.  Not to be racist, not to kill someone and not to make the news.  Each day, a huge majority are able to do that and unfortunately a small minority are placed in a situation where lethal force may be required.  If you ask any officer, I'd say 99% would say a perfect career would be one in which they would not have to discharge their weapon at any point.  Now is every shooting justified? No (see the SC incident), and any officer I have spoken with regarding incidents such as that are just as disturbed by it as anyone else.  If that is truly the view you have of the profession, I recommend signing up for a ride along.  It may not change your opinion completely, but at the very least, it could help shed some light on what is faced each day.

In case it isn't obvious from the username, I'm local to where this incident happened and have heard from friends (third and fourth hand, but fairly consistent) about how everything progressed: 1) He was at Pat O'Brien's getting drunk (as one does there) about 1:30; 2) A group of Ducks fans were trash talking to him, and Boykin became aggressive back; 3) Seeing the situation escalating, a bartender stepped in between the groups to separate them; 4) Boykin threw a punch and hit the bartender, and was escorted out of the bar; 5) Teammates of Boykin assured the bar staff they would get him back to the hotel and began walking; 6) By this time SAPD arrived on scene after a call about the disturbance; 7) Boykin separated a bit, and others outside began yelling at him again; 8) At that point he turned around and rushed the group, swinging away; 9) A bike cop was trying to corral the group and get them to shut up, and he's the one who got hit by Boykin; 10) No guns or tasers were drawn, only threats to tase were made when Boykin would not calm down even after punching the officer.

I really hope Boykin was absolutely black out drunk because at least then he'd have a (bad) excuse, versus a conclusion that he is just incredibly stupid. That being said I've watched enough "Cops" to know assaulting a police officer can be something as small as bumping them with your elbow and resisting arrest can be something as small as not putting your hands behind your back instantaneously.

That these kids put themselves in positions like this with so much to lose. I completely understand where Mr Yost is coming from, that takes a lot out of the TCU vs Oregon game. I'll wait for more details before passing too much judgement, but I certainly hope that other kids will see this and keep themselves out of these situations.
