Chris Clark Officially Granted Release from UCLA

Submitted by The Victors on

This isn't necessarily surprising news after it was reported previously that Chris Clark spent a gameday weekend at home and was not practicing with the team, but now it is official.

No details on what he is looking for in particular in a school, but there have been rumblings that he was homesick and wanted to be closer to home.

Anyone in the know care to share the transfer rule implications of this? I would assume that if because he played in even just 1 game this season that he would need to sit out the 2016 season (assuming he transfers to another FBS program), but that he could possibly get a waiver and play next season considering he only played in 1 game.

You guys act like he did something along the lines of Frank Clark, or hell, even Glasgow.  Kid picked a school and then didn't like it.  That might mean he's difficult to coach, but I leave that up to the coaches.  In terms of his character, I'd say that tells us very little about it.  If the worst thing you can say about him is that he flaked on a school and he talks about being a play-maker, then as far as you know he's not a bad dude.

There are a ton of kids currently playing ball at college campuses around the country and finishing up basic training who would disagree with that assertion.  This isn't a decommitment/recommitment this is leaving school after one game and before classes even started.  Not sure it's worth the risk and would rather not end up the Indiana to Gunner Kiel's Cincinnati.

Trust in Harbaugh. Whether he wants to come here or not, he'll only be allowed in if he's worthy. Considering he's allowed to, of course.
