None of the Detroit teams made the list. Biggest surprise for me was the Houston Texans ranked 16th with a value of $1.85 billion. That's higher than teams like the Steelers, Bears and 49ers.
Jim Harbaugh took the value with him when he left the niners.
I deserve a neg for responding to the first post just to have my post up higher. That said, I think all should be warned that the Forbes link is presented as a Bleacher-Report-esque slide show. Caveat Emptor.
Where is my imaginary recreational softball team ranked?
Maybe it's like that South Park episode where Christian rock albums go gold, frankincense, or myrrh instead of silver, gold, and platinum.
Your imaginary team is valued at twenty imaginary eucalyptus leaves and two imaginary bottles of doxycycline.
It's 4:06 and I've taken 11 shits today.
All these are mcuh higher now due to the Clippers being sold for $2B. $2B for the CLIPPERS!!!
Yeah I was really shocked by that too. This article gives a pretty interesting take on why it might be worth that money.

But IMO, it's a pivotal time for that franchise. The Lakers have been down for a few years, and Kobe is about to retire. If they can keep the talent they have and stay a consistent playoff team for the next 5-10 years, they will capture a big share of that market.
The Texans are ranked so high due largely to their stadium. While it is technically "publicly owned", the Texans organization owns a huge chunk of it and it is already paid off in full. They make tons of cash on concerts, rodeos, soccer matches etc. Not to mention that Houston is a huge city, and people in Texas are nuts about football.

Potential explanation for the Houston Texans being so high: Don't they own their stadium outright, where the other teams you listed play in publicly finanaced stadiums? That could be a big part of the value of the franchise. I'm pretty sure it's the same for the three NFL teams in the top 10 as well.
I'm surprised that Washington is that high, honeslty
Washington's football team owns its stadium.
I kid, I kid... Kinda

Not really surprising since the NHL has the lowest TV contract. The Leafs benefit from having their own channel (Leafs TV).
Notre Dame's not listed? The list is invalid!
I don't care that this is a list of pro franchises. Notre Dame is worth the most - we have Touchdown Jesus! And gold helmets!! And Freakbass!!! And an agreement with UA!!!!
Sincerely,
The ND Fanbase
The Knicks at 2.5b is mostly due to the money they still owe Melo.
But yeah, these lists always make me laugh because comparing Euro soccer to basically anything else in terms of value feels weird, as its almost like they are working from a different financial currency compared to other sports.
The Clippers were literally just purchased for over $2 billion but their value is only $1.6 bil?
Maybe they're just implying Ballmer overpaid by a cool $400 million

We need a pussy who is a whiner and a diver?
No thanks on the CR type.
Those are HUGE leaps from the 2014 list. I think the Washington NFL franchise was listed at $1.7B last year.
