OT - God the Tigers Suck
It's almost the All Star break, are the Tigers seem like a team that is sliding toward mediocrity. In the past the Tigers could rely on superior starting pitching and inferior competition in the AL Central to eek their way into the playoffs. Now neither of those things exist and team just seems totally listless. Someone please tell me that there is some realistic hope for the second half of the season becasue this is getting depressing to follow. Harbaugh can't get here fast enough.
Interesting idea. Bad OPS, but he might hit well getting all those #2 spot fast balls.
Waiting for Kinsler to break out of it might not work out well. The last few seasons the trend with him has been considerably worse second halves.
I think that's exactly the idea in moving Cespedes up. Suddenly, you're giving a power hitter a lot of fastballs to hit. JD Martinez will take the brunt of that move, but if you can clump all that power at the top, you should be able to produce runs.

Sanchez will be back...he is starting to put it together again.
unproven manager was idiotic then, and idiotic now. The way Ausmus got clowned in the playoffs last year was a joke.
Within two years time, DD dismantled on of the greatest pitching staffs in modern era. Combine that with they way he awarded mega contracts to Verlander, Miggy and Victor and this will haunt this team for years. Look at the backs of Alfredo Simon and Shane Greene's baseball cards - What you're seeing is how they've performed over their careers. Simon is a journeyman at best... so what if he was an NL All Star in 2014, look at his 2nd half..look at all his years prior to that. Mediocre minor league pitchers with no history of success usually just don't "find it" eventually. At what point does DD realize this team isn't going to win a WS and start dumping veterans and reload the farm system? When you have one Top 100 prospect in your entire organization (and he's #100 ), at some point you have to realize it's time to restock the system.
I don't see how you can take shots at DD. He has done far more good than bad as GM.
Dismantling a great pitching staff? The Porcello deal appears to have been smart as RP is getting blasted this year. The price tag on Scherzer was ridiculous. And while the Fister deal backfired...even DF has been injuried and regressing this year.
Yea, thats overly harsh. Fact is, the budget really has only been a concern in the last couple years. the Fister trade was the first trade I can think of that was fiscally motivated and hurt the club.
I think DD's done a great job, but this is not a great year. And it does reflect on him.
Tigers have become the Indians under Ausmus and DD.
