looks like a carbon copy of me. Almost exactly the same in every way. It's like my wife's genetics weren't even involved in the process.
January 20th, 2015 at 12:41 PM ^
Same here. And I look just like my dad and he looks just like his dad. It's like we have the dominate genes and it's awesome.

a picture of my grandparents on their wedding day, in about 1920. Were it not for the period costumes it could have easily been a picture of me. My son found a pic of me at about his age (2-3) and he refused to believe it wasn't a pic of him. He apparently didn't notice the awesome 70's sunflower wallpaper that everyone had back then.
My sister looks like me, with tits. Not a great look to be honest.
/Sorry for threadjack, but it seems to be pretty slow around here this week.

I like him with the beard. I think his dad should grow one. I also have a beard. Do you like beards?

Harbeard. Harbrows.

Makes a lot of sense as young JH will have help from Baxter with TEs while learning STs from the master = Win Win.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:18 AM ^
I read that (the ST position) as Jim wanting Baxter to mentor Jay. I imagine Baxter will have pretty much full control over special teams, so it kind of gives Jay a role where he's independent of his dad. Because otherwise, with regard to the TE role, it's safe to assume Jim will be keeping close tabs on him.

Not a bad gig for a 25 year old. I think he will do a great job.

This is one of the best reasons that having someone of his age on staff will be hugely helpful. He will have the ability to communicate in a way very similar to many recruits since he is only 7(ish) years older. And that song is SO DAMNED CATCHY.

Well, when you drink more milk than any man in recorded history, eventually the store might run out.
January 20th, 2015 at 10:46 AM ^
So Jay spent 4 years under Mike Reiley at Oregon St and now Jim is trying to poach 2-3 Nebraska commits? That be cold, coach. I love it!
January 20th, 2015 at 10:50 AM ^
To mind poaching our recruits during our transition. Game on.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:04 AM ^
they poacheth unto you." A quote from the NCAA Bible of Recruiting.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:08 AM ^
Meyer was poaching top recruits from PSU, MSU and even took Gareon Conley from us. I would really love to see Harbaugh take someone from PSU. Can't stand Franklin, he tried everything to snake oil Peppers and has been doing a lot of negative recruiting against us.

This kid will do great. By all accounts he's a chip off the old block. He is a Harbaugh boy with noble bloodlines. He's driven to prove himself apart from his famous father and uncle. He's young enough to relate well with recruits, and has football coaching experience even at this young age at a top notch NFL organization in the Ravens. You know he was raised to work hard and you know his father demands more from him, as his son, than he already high demands of his players and staff. This was a good hire.
January 20th, 2015 at 10:49 AM ^
I wasn't excited about this hire. He's way too young and inexperienced for this position.
Then I saw the pic of him, Jim, and Jack all hanging out and reviewing film. If I was in JH's position, I absolutely would have made the same hire. How great is it that he can go to work every day and have his family with him like that. They're all obviously very close and I think this bodes well for Jim's time at Michigan.
I really think this might be his last stop coaching.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:19 AM ^
I would think that if he were smart, he'll work for him for a couple years and then get experience under another quality coach. This would be similar to Richard Pitino working under his father and then working for Billy Donovan. Richard says his coaching approach more resembles Donovan than his father.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:38 AM ^
When I said that this might be his last stop coaching I was referring to Jim.
I would think that Jr. would move on somewhere else to get more experience after a few years. And maybe come back to Michigan later.
Unless JH is planning on setting him up as a successor. Give him more and more responsibility as the other assistants move on. He spends a few years as OC before Jim retires and hands him the reigns. In 2035.
January 20th, 2015 at 10:50 AM ^
Does this mean that the coaching staff is set? Just seems like we are a little thin on the defensive side of the ball. Just my opinion though.
January 20th, 2015 at 10:55 AM ^
Have been nice because harbaugh is an offensive guy but I have no issue at all
With the breakdown of the staff.

oh. thought it was a superhaiku or something.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:02 AM ^
And Mattison and Durkin are basically head defensive coaches. They'll be fine on defense, they most inexperienced unit is the DBs and they did the right think and split them up with 2 coaches.
If we had an extra spot or combined TE/Special Teams then I would assume Manning stays and coaches DEs/OLBs.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:08 AM ^
on the Washington State coaching staff as their OLB coach. I would have loved to of had him stay but he is in fact hired elsewhere.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:17 AM ^
Don't be surprised if Manning comes back when Mattison retires.
January 20th, 2015 at 11:18 AM ^
It will expand his recruiting on the west coast and hopefully we get him back when Mattison retires.

January 20th, 2015 at 11:02 AM ^
just waiting for his official announcement. He doesn't show up on the YSU football website so seems like its just a matter of time now.
