It's such bullshit. Listen, we can all agree it was "probably" on purpose but it wasn't that bad and there was some reasonable doubt. I'am so pissed. Fuck the NFL commitee. FUCK YOU!!!! (huge middle fingers up fellas)

I'm more than willing to admit that I am seeing this through Honolulu Blue glasses, and of course it affects my judgment, but I am certain that any other player on any other team would have been given the benefit of the doubt in this scenario. This reeks of NFL desperation to appease bloodthirsty fans who only saw this through the Suh-is-a-dirty-player media lens. I'm not delusional enough to believe that there's no way he could have meant to do it. Sure he could have, but I also don't see how you suspend a player for arguably the biggest game of his career, a playoff game, for what transpired on video. Again, if it's not Suh, or if it's not Rodgers, or if the media doesn't play into Rodgers's acting job, then no way this is the punishment. And for those that say Suh dug his own grave with previous actions, I think that's a terrible way to run a league.

Dony let the door hit ya, he cost us multiple games last year, and now potentially another...playoff game.

Let him walk and sign a stud CB and backup DT, let Mosely play.

yeah, he gone. not worth paying any DT that kind of money. you can draft and plug these guys. yes, they won't be suh. but you can do so much with the $20 mil a year...

No way he should be suspended for this.

-Suh looks down field to watch the play, Rodgers falls down behind his back, which Suh cant see

-Suh gets bumped backwards by the GB lineman in the direction of Rodgers

-Suh naturally steps back to balance himself, his heel clips Rodgers lower leg

-Rodgers feels this and slides his leg farther away, again something Suh cant see behind him

-Suh takes a step back with his other foot, just so happens to step on Rodgers leg again (which has moved since the first time it was stepped on, all while Suh is looking the other direction)

-Suh notices he is stepping on something and lifts his foot off Rodgers, when he steps away from Rodgers he has one foot on the leg and another in the air for a very brief moment real time

This all happens BEHIND SUHS BACK. There is no way that you can prove this is intentional and especially that he targeted Rodgers injured calf. When you are down on the field you get stepped on sometimes.

That is a pretty awful comment to make, comparing me out of the blue to an apologist for a child rapist enabler. Uncalled for, in my opinion.

All I'm saying is that people should actually closely watch the video and not automatically condemn Suh. Rodgers WAS moving his leg after being clipped the first time and Suh stepped on it again. There is a possible argument that Suh intentionaly lingered with all his weight, but enough for a playoff game suspension? Hell no.

I haven't lost anything. WE GOT HARBAUGH!

Because he has a well earned reputation at this point, and this is the second time he has done something like this (both against the Packers no less) suggest it is a suspendable offense. The guy doesn't care how his play hurts other players or even his own team. Get him off the field. If the tables were turned and a Packer defenseman did this to Stafford many of you would be raging harder than you already are.

He has definitely earned his reputation through his often overly-aggressive play. But comparing this backwards stepping incident apples-to-apples with his clear as day stomp several years ago is not fair in my opinion.

Stafford did get pile-drived into the ground on a hit yesterday and got hit in the helmet with hands a few different times (penalized once, soft but the right call with todays rules) but you dont hear me bitching about that, I am honestly not that serious of a Lions fan. I just think that players should be judged fairly, which apparently makes me the scum of the earth.

You can only fine a guy so many times before suspensions are the only recourse left. You've admitted he has a well earned reputation. Guys like that are on a shorter leash with good reason. Suh deserves no benefit of the doubt in this case. Not after the second step. Guy knew what he was doing there.

I totally understand where you are coming from, however I do not think that every possible misstep (see what I did there) should automatically = suspension, regardless of scale or intent, just because he has been fined often in the past (but none this season). For an incident like this where there is a legitimate plausible deniability I think a fine, at most, is more appropriate.

I hope Suh and Raiola are both gone so the Lions don't have to deal with these BS issues anymore.

I'm sorry for closely looking at the video and determining if a suspension is applicable or not in MY opinion. I dont think one is here. I am far from a bandwagon fan for the Lions, and I actually do not want Suh back in Detroit next year. I think Raiola should have been banned for the season for his ridiculous stomp vs. Chicago. But if I am "the worst type of fan" for trying to give a player a fair shake, than I guess i will accept that label.

As we all know:  The Lions are a complete joke of an organization and will never win anything under their current ownership and management.

My opinion is that Caldwell is a joke of a HC and is no better than Schwartz in instilling discipline to the team.  From torn ACL celebration to multiple suspensions, drug useage by active players, dumb penalties, stupid challenges burning TOs, horrible offensive play calling..the only reason this team won 11 games is that 10 of the wins came vs. sub .500 teams.  #easyschedule  #thelionssuck  #losers

Suh sabotaged this team bc he was sick of bailing out an overpaid QB and the O.

That's an irrational take.

More appropriate is the NFL didn't want the GoldenBoy™ to have his panties in a wad for two weeks while he's recovering from his Willis Reedlike Hip dislocation.

Anyone calling this unintentional is out of their mind.  Yes maybe someone else gets the benefit of the doubt, but only because with someone else there WOULD reasonably be more doubt about this.

There are zero good reasons for him to lift his right foot off the ground like that.  Come on.

Suh has such talent, it is really disappointing to see him continue doing these stupid things. If he had the mentality of JJ Watt he would be so much better.

Why not a big fine? It's not like he drew blood.  Sure, the guy is a tool, and obviously the tool should have known he was on thin ice, but apparently he just isn't the sharpest tool in the drawer.  None of this is a defense of the big idiot.

Still, I do not believe I am paranoid when I say this, and yes my wife rolls her eyes every f-ing time I do, but when in doubt, whether it be officiating or a ruling like this, the default position is every single time "screw Detroit".  It could be any sport (especially hockey against any f-ing team from the West Coast in the Stanley Cup) or almost any topic, when in doubt always "screw Detroit".

One man's unscientific opinion.

I get the arguments from the side that it was actually an inadvertent non-malicious act but having noted that consider the situation:

1. The player involved has already been involved in more than one dubious incident where an opposing player could be seriously hurt.

2. Players that do non-game related things that jeopardize another player's fitness and possibly the career is of great concern not only to the particular team, but should be a concern to the player's union and the league.

In particular, if the star players, the ones who bring in the fans on Sunday afternoon are being taken out by non-game related stuff it hurts everyone. Some forms of entertainment go down that "goon" path thinking it riles up the fans and builds fan interest, but in the established major leagues no one will support it. Even the NHL which verged into that territory for a time realized that people want to see guys like Gretsky skate, pass and score and not to see him get mugged with or without the puck.

3. So do star players get a benefit - yes, because they are the reasons the stands are filled and everyone in the league knows that. Likewise repeat offenders get a very close watch and don't get cut any slack. In this case, the team has already had a player (Raiola) who had two incidents in a short period of time,  and Suh hasn't helped his own cause - he's been his own worst enemy.

He can't blame the league on this - the NFL hierarchy is in their bunker trying to deal with the domestic violence issue and the concussion issue, and the very last thing they need is to be seen going soft on not protecting the star players that bring in the big ratings on TV.

4. Finally as someone who has been following the Lions are far longer than any sane person should, it was a classic bit of Same Old Lions - finding another way to self destruct.

This blog, if maybe not this thread, has a pretty wide readership--there are people here from across the country and around the world.

Is there anyone here who is not a Lions fan that thinks this was not intentional?

I'm not a fan of either team and have no dog in this fight at all, but that was as obvious as could be, to me, and to everyone I've spoken to that saw it.

1) first step back was probably unavoidable, second was almost certainly intentional

2) Any other player (on either side of the play) and this would be a fine at most. It's stupid and dirty, but no worse than jumping on a pile frankly.

If anyone thinks that was unintentional then do this.  Put a phone book on the ground and step back on it with your left foot.  What to you do?  You pull away and keep your weight on your right foot.  You don't put all of your weight on your left foot and pull your right foot off the ground.  He should have been suspended for the entire post season and 2 games next season.    Punk.

being currently suspended at the time, I'd give him a pass. But it was totally intentional, he knows his own reputation, and he knows that sort of thing is going to be scrutinized just that much more given what happened the game before. The fact that he tried to do it "lightly" as if he could get away with it tells me he's dumber than anyone thought he was. He's a hotheaded jerk that loses control way too often, just like Raiola. I for one, hope Suh does stay with Detroit, because he could be such a damn special player if he could keep his shit together. The suspension was justified though, IMHO.
