OT What is Fedorov talking about?
Sergei Fedorov is saying something to some Russian newspaper about his time with the Wings. He says the other players were jealous of the Russian Five, and the coaches wouldn't let the Russian players do all they could. I don't know why or how he would say this, but I guess it's good that it didn't come up when he was actually on the team.

You shouldn't believe every "interview" you read in the Russian press, unless you want to hear about how Ovechkin told them he was singing with CSKA Moscow in 3 years.

Can he carry a tune?

has always been kind of "off" about stuff like this. first he holds the wings hostage in 97, gets his money and then wins another cup the next year and every one loves him. then he dicides to leave because he wanted to be the main guy, which never really worked out for him. then to make it even worse his dad would get involved with some of the issues, like sergei playing defence.... if any thing sergei created his own problems while he was here not the other way around.

He donated his entire base salary to charity in 1999, hence why everyone forgave him. And he did not leave to be the main guy, he signed with the Kariya era Ducks for God's sake. He wanted to spend the twilight of his career on the beach and can you really blame him?

wanted to spend time on the beach, but he never played with kariya on the ducks. his first year with the ducks was kariyas first with the av's...

When he signed with the Ducks, Kariya had agreed in principal to a new contract that he would later back out of.

sign with the ducks thinking he would be playing with PK then so be it. but he still took less money to leave detroit, which makes a lot of people including me thnk that he left to get out of the shadow of yzerman. which makes it seem like he wanted to be the main guy.

Sergei's still bitter about Anna Kournikova leaving him for pretty boy Iglesias...can you blame him though?

I suppose he wanted the Russian Five to get every other shift?

I seem to remember there being some friction surrounding the Russian Five back then, but it is certainly true the Russian press can be a little, shall we say, misleading at times.

Poor Sergei. All that time he spent in Columbus apparently warped the man's brain.

I am surprised so many of you have the time to read Russian Newspapers. The logistics of getting it, then translating...impressive.
