They have alot of games. But that's the only quality they have IMO. Their analysts are generally awful, whether it be the color guys or in studio.
coverage from an announcing perspective has a very long way to go. Gus Johnson is a terrible, terrible soccer announcer.
ESPN is smart and hires Ian Darke, Adrian Healy, Jon Champion etc, English guys who know the game and know what they're doing. Johnson just does not.
I'm glad they're at least letting him have opportunities with Champions League Final and the FA Cup. But I think he needs to be announcing lots of games to get his quality up. Hopefully Fox improves over the next four years.
Most goals given up by Spain since 1950.
What exactly is the point of that long animated sequence? It must have cost a ton to make.
I agree. The cartoon is stupid. Just more FIFA promotion
I don't want to watch Rio 3. I want to watch soccer.
That's not the same Robben I saw in big games for Bayern this year. He was on another planet today.
Van Persie either really.
by van Gaal and making RVP and Robben play more central looks brilliant now. Man Utd fans can only hope he can use their talent more effectively. Can not wait to see them at the Big House.
Was surprised how aggressive the outside backs were almost making a 3-5-2 formation along with a very aggressive offside trap. Also very impressed how the Dutch midfielder one timed long passes and through balls to strikers who expected this sort of lightning attack. Could have been 8-1 as the Spanish defense said "No Mas". They looked like the MIami Heat.
Can't wait to see Italy-England tomorrow!
What a shocking result - great game by the Dutch. Spain's defense is a joke.
gritty defenseman who seemed to be the emotional leader for Spain.
Aussie GK just pulled a David "Calamity" James there - too bad.
Chile is fun to watch...they're the Golden State Warriors of soccer...
That is the Marcelo Bielsa style right there. The current coach is still running his system.
They win hard or lose hard...they can give up TERRIBLE goals. But in games like this, they'll just pour it on.
Yeah that high pressing style makes for those types of games.
To add to what you said, I don't think Australia has the talent to really counter it.
2-nil Chile :(
Well, the Socceroos are in for a rough night. Spain might not be at the bottom of the group by the end of the night.
Chile = Shaka Smart's VCU. Gonna press you and attack the whole game for better or worse.
Because I want to root for them...
of course he scores with a header.
Get a goal...maybe we have a game!
what an entertaining day of soccer
Hopefully it continues tomorrow.
While I still expect Chile to walk away with this one, they will feel it tomorrow. Australia playing a very physical match.
That looked like a goal. No replay?
I've never seen this before...they're like the Globetrotters with all these passes.
