There Were Excess Subs? The Big Ten is going to learn next year that "nobody can guard" Max Bielfeldt
I don't think this was posted anywhere on MGoBoard but as I did some googling last night on the mystery man that is Max Bielfeldt to try to figure out what potentially could be chiseled of this figure outside of a calf modeling contract in 2014-2015, I came upon this story with eyebrow raising comments from none other than Coach Bielein at the banquet.
Lorenz 247: Michigan head coach John Beilein raised some eyebrows at tonight's team banquet when he referred to sophomore center Max Bielfeldt as "unguardable" in practice.
Quinn Mlive: John Beilein just said the Big Ten is going to learn next year that "nobody can guard" Max Bielfeldt.
Now I have no idea how many subs were at this banquet, nor how many Coach B had but these were head scratching quotes for a player who has scored 38 pts in his life at the NCAA level, and shot a cool 28.6% from the field last year. My brain says too many subs were served; my heart says IBIT*. I am especially confused as I don't remember this sort of public profuse adulation for any other player in the past 7 years.
* In Beilein I Trust
Motivational ploy? Attempt at confidence building? Two years of possum (if so - why warn the conference of the tsunami about to be unleashed on them)? The Beilein freshman to sophomore RS sophomore to RS junior wing/guard big man jump?
Who is the real Slim Shady Max Bielfeldt? Discuss.

This is the kool aid I was drinking a few weeks ago.

He's spending the off-season eating subs with Dilithium dressing, training with Sanderson and being mentored by Zack Novak on toughness and grit?

Damn. With that combination of mentors you're saying we now have to worry about Max filing early entry in 12 months....

Bielfeldt has short arms. It helps to be long. That hurts his ability to be effective at the 4.

in the T-Rex's dominance of the world.

no evidence Max Biefeldt is unguardable at this level.

when he's never on the floor playing. So, yes. It is true it is hard to guard him.

But who heard of Frank Kaminsky this time last year? Maybe he just needs consistent playing time and a little bit of confidence in his game to have a breakout season. I trust JB enough to be a glass half-full type of guy when it comes to his comments.

putting confidence in his guy..I love every bit of this statement. He is letting Max know that they need him, go out and get it young man. Use those python calfs and post some cats up.
Max's calves or Graham Brown's jaw?
And now, for the rest of the story.
"Of course, I am basing that on watching our practices and nobody on this team can guard anybody."
Max Biefeldt's 38 career points reminds me of Dennis Shortfleets 6 career catches.
I'm not sure why people aren't messing themselves for more Max.
