ESPN+ Kiper Mock Draft 2.0
Throwing this up here for some discussion. Mel has Gary going 4 to the Raiders and Bush 30th to the Pack.
Odd note as he has Lions going with the TE from Iowa Hockenson at 8 overall....was he really that good? Even if he ends up being a high end TE would doubt he would have more game impact than a disruptive pass rusher on the DL or a corner like Greedy.

Taking a TE inside the top 10 is ludicrously stupid. Even if you think he’s the next Gronk. The kid would have to become the next Gronk for that pick to be justified when his career is all said and done. But then again, that kind of move would be right up the Lion’s alley.
Unless you’re an already well-stocked team picking towards the bottom of the first round, I wouldn’t touch tight ends until the second round, anyway. You can just get a lot more value in other places with a first round pick.

Also of interest, neither Long nor Gentry are listed in the top 10 for their position groups. That may not bode well for them. Gentry will probably test better, but the film is not great. I don’t know that Long will test well and the film is pretty limited. Unfortunately, I suspect both may regret their early departures.

Don't be surprised by the Lions taking a TE or any other wonky picks in these early mocks
Guys like Mel and Todd throw in some intriguing and controversial picks in the early mocks so people click on them and discuss them
Theres 0% chance the Lions take a TE in this front loaded elite defensive draft. I don't get why people still fall for this shit

Ford Field will burn if they pick a ... Wait. It should have burned after 432 other incidents. Nothing would surprise me, or so I say...

Lions need to draft Allen, Greedy, or Ferrell if available.
TE is a pretty big need, but should wait until at least the second, and more ideally the 3rd or 4th. Safety is a big need but should try to be addressed in FA. Flowers would be a great FA target as well, as a premium player at a position of need with ties to Quinn and Patricia.

I always like Hockensen better than Fant. TJ likes to block and seemed the tougher/more durable of the two players.

Lost faith in Bob Quinn when he drafted a long snapper! Yes a long snapper, that franchise is jinx and forever will be, I made a pack after watching this sad sack franchise for years to not wear or buy anything to do with the Lions till they win a playoff game call me a bandwagon fan but so be it, watching the Lions is like watching a rerun time and time again! A long snapper LMAO!!

Quinn is a defense first guy, I wouldn’t be surprised if he traded down for more picks. I think Bush would be a star in the Steelers 3-4.

The latest Draft Tek Consensus Mock Draft, showing round selected, place selected in the overall draft and team selecting a Michigan player.
Rashan Gary - 1st (10) - Broncos
Devin Bush - 2nd (52) - Steelers
Zach Gentry - 3rd (90) - Cowboys
Chase Winovich* - 6th (170) - Lions
Karan Higdon - 6th (184) - Colts
David Long - Undrafted
* If this precipitous drop in the projected draft position for Chase Winovich turns out to be true, then it could be that NFL scouts saw something about his injury report that must've made them skittish.
