Also live streaming on YouTube. Channing Stribling is #30 for the Express and Ty Isaac is #32 for the Iron.

Breaking news. Christian Hackenberg still sucks.

Channing stribling with the PBU for Memphis 〽️

he’s #30

Stribling is making plays.
February 10th, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
He sure is. Just made another play-- almost INT-- although he looked a little shaken up after the play.
It's nice to have somebody on these teams to root for.
February 10th, 2019 at 6:09 PM ^
Always liked him@ UM. Solid defender. Hope he does well in AAF.
February 10th, 2019 at 4:46 PM ^
Stribling is pretty good. Hackenberg is not.
Are they somehow amplifying the "crowd" noise? It sounds louder than it should be looking at the seats.
February 10th, 2019 at 4:52 PM ^
They seem to have lots of microphones around. There's an echo in the Iron QB's mic, is that getting amplified in the stadium?

What are the main differences between this and the NFL ruleset?
February 10th, 2019 at 5:24 PM ^
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alliance_of_American_Football#Rules
No kickoffs, must go for two after a TD, you can only rush 5, and a few others
February 10th, 2019 at 5:45 PM ^
Yep, these are the main ones, along with only need one foot inbound for a catch.
A quirkier change: No onside kicks, the team instead gets to try and convert one 4th and 12 play from their own 28.
February 10th, 2019 at 5:59 PM ^
I thought they still need both feet in bounds for a completed catch? At least that's what the commentators had mentioned last night when I watched the first game.
February 10th, 2019 at 6:21 PM ^
Looks like my bad. I thought I read that rule change somewhere yesterday, but I can't find it now.
February 10th, 2019 at 6:44 PM ^
During a review last night, they said that the receiver still needs to get both feet in.
February 10th, 2019 at 8:51 PM ^
Not a problem, just thought I heard it a few times on the broadcast is all. I’m glad it’s two feet since it’s supposed to be a developmental pro league; however it’d be higher scoring/more exciting if it was 1 foot
February 10th, 2019 at 6:52 PM ^
This site https://www.playpicks.com/26497/aaf-week-1-betting-overview/ lists only one foot inbounds needed for a catch. It may be wrong though, other sources don't say this.
February 10th, 2019 at 7:27 PM ^
It's definitely wrong. They had a few one foot in bounds catches that were ruled incomplete yesterday.
February 10th, 2019 at 5:14 PM ^
I like the flat black Birmingham helmets.
February 10th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
The refs look like they are wearing a black bra. Or is it the Ref Bro? Or the Refzierre?

I actually like the AAF. It’s different, makes me excited for the XFL. It’ll never be as big as the NFL, just a nice alternative to watch during the off season. At least until it quits snowing and we all can get off of our asses and go outside.
February 10th, 2019 at 6:15 PM ^
I posted this yesterday but seriously...when is the last time your saw this logo?! It's been damn near 2 decades I feel like.

They beat out LA Gear, British Knights, MTA Pro, Starbury, and Big Baller.
February 11th, 2019 at 9:57 AM ^
LOL MTA Pro!
(edit@8:45 pm):
MTA Pro, for those unfamiliar, stands for "Meijer Thrifty Acres Pro ". When I was a kid, Mom bought lot of school clothes for me and my siblings at Meijer, especially since Dad (who worked there--- part time 2nd job) got an employee discount on merchandise.

If I could find the starter pull over Michigan jacket with the pocket in front I would rock it now .
February 10th, 2019 at 8:31 PM ^
Starter released those jackets again last year. You can find one for sure.

This is a lot of fun so far, and seems like a well-run league. I think some of these rules might be the future of the sport, and it's very interesting what they've done with "onside kicks."
I'm also really digging Birmingham's uniforms and seeing the Starter logo everywhere.
February 10th, 2019 at 6:38 PM ^
I didn't realize Ben Holden was calling this game. I thought he only did hockey. Good to see local guys on national broadcasts.
February 10th, 2019 at 6:51 PM ^
No one in the stands lol. I'd love to see a game, a shame the only California team is in San Diego. What if San Diego built them a stadium lol?
February 10th, 2019 at 7:04 PM ^
Isn't Ty Isaac on the Iron?
February 10th, 2019 at 9:06 PM ^
Yes, he is, but he didn't play today.
February 10th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
is the AAF subject to the same rules regarding the age of players? In other words can someone come right out of high school if he wants to get paid now and forego college and play in this league?
February 10th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
Bad football, very bad and no you can’t come from high school.
February 11th, 2019 at 3:02 AM ^
Yes pretty bad but I also heard they've all had like thirty days of practice only. Working off the rust and getting in shape. Not sure why only 30 days of practice.
