When teams from the South have to play a bowl game in the North

they lose.  Badly.  AS WE HAVE BEEN PREDICTING FOR DECADES.  The thought of snow and ice messes with their heads before they make the trip up.  Once they get here, the bone-chilling cold hits them and just want to get the heck back on the bus and not even play the game.

Case in point, Minnesota v. G-Tech at Ford Field.  Appears from the score G-Tech's offense didn't come out of the locker room until the first quarter was over.  By the end of the third quarter they were so cold they left and didn't even play in the fourth quarter.

Let's have more B1G vs. SEC/ACC bowl games up North.  I propose Lambeau Field and Soldier Field no matter what, and Ford Field only if they play with the roof retracted.

maybe they can start The Big House Bowl sponsored by MGOBLOG.  a directional Michigan school would always play vs any G5 team south of the 35th parallel. I think that would be fun.

Agreed. I also would like the Southern teams to have to play the playoff games out West all the time instead of them having basically a home game every time they step on the field.

This is a dumb fucking post. They played indoors. Students would much rather travel somewhere warm to play their bowl game than stay “in the north” and play in the snow. Playing football in the freezing rain sucks for everyone, not just those from the south.

We don't have snow plows or salt trucks.  Nobody has snow tires on their car.  Most of the people who were born here have never driven on snow in their entire lives.

Consequently if it even looks like it might snow, all the government offices and schools preemptively shut down  -- just like with a hurricane.  The newscasters make a huge deal about it -- just like with a hurricane.  People are conditioned to associate snow, ice, and cold weather with the breakdown of civil society -- just like a hurricane.

Those who defy the advice to stay indoors are basically told to prepare for certain death.

Everybody who was on the G-Tech team on January 3, 2018 already lived through the terror of snow in Atlanta.  In 2014 it was even worse -- thousands of students had to spend the night at school or on a school bus.  Two inches of snow shut down the entire city.

When the mercury dips below 40, all Southerners feel a heightened sense  of anxiety and some experience PTSD level terror -- and that is precisely why I want SEC/ACC teams to play B1G teams up North in December/January

In large part the South lost the Civil War because they didn't have a strong ground game and didn't like playing in the snow and cold weather.

They cancel Christmas parades down here due to an inch of snow.

Sounds like a good thing, and I would like to see it, even if it was every 3 - 4 years,

but which teams/fans from the south would want to travel to play in the northern cities, especially if it was outdoors.

The only indoor fields are:

Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Detroit, Syracuse, Northern Michigan (did I miss any?)...maybe if each hosted 2 - 3 bowl games.

The South has humidity that is impossible to prepare for.  It is to their advantage that many of the important bowl games are played in the South, that Southern teams are accustomed to playing in it, and that their Northern opponents are not.  There's a lot more parity in the NFL and alot more history so to prove my point I just used NFL data for a few select matchups.

Miami leads Buffalo 35-19-1 in Miami but Buffalo is 28-26 against Miami in Buffalo.

Vikings are 4-3 against the Dolphins in Minnesota, and only 1-5 in Miami.

Packers are 3-4 against the Dolphins in Green Bay and only 2-6 in Miami.

Atlanta is 11-6 vs. the Packers in Atlanta (6-3 before the dome) and 5-12 in Green Bay

Minnesota Vikings lead series 11-4-0 vs. Falcons in Minnesota but are only 8-7 in Atlanta (2-5 before the dome).

It even works when you pit the two cold stadium teams against each other.   Green Bay is 28-29 against Minnesota at Minnesota (many played in a dome) but 32-25-3 v. Minnesota at GB.

Moreover, we saw it again tonight, party people!  Miami was favored by 2.5 points v. Wisconsin at Yankee Stadium.  But it got "cold," Miami froze up, and Wisconsin won by thirtysomething.

Playing in the South is a decisive advantage for Southern teams.  We need to have more games, more bowl games, more playoff games, and perhaps even the NC game in outdoor stadiums, during the winter, up North.  Bring on Bama, in Ann Arbor, in January.
