[Matt Miller] Dwayne Haskins (rsSo.) to return for 2019 season according to "sources."

In Matt Miller's most recent draft board, Miller excludes Haskins claiming that his sources have indicated that the sophomore QB will return for the 2019 season.

It'll be interesting to see if this encourages current backup QB Tate Martell (RsFr.) to transfer.

Call me crazy, but I don't think he's a lock for the starting job next year.  I think Tate Martell is going to play quite a bit against Michigan since he presents more of a dual threat, and if it works he'll get more playing time in whatever game(s) OSU plays the rest of the season.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Tate start the first series against Michigan just to try to throw Don Brown for a loop.

I'll believe it when I see it. This is one guy, from BR, in November, with sources from the school. There's a lot of time for this to change.

Even if he does stay, I'd actually be okay with it. OSU will be losing at least 3 starting OL, 3 of their contributing WRs, and potentially Weber as well. We've seen the issues they have running the ball this year without a dual threat QB and losing all that I don't see how they get any better. This seems like a situation where he should leave since it's a weak QB class and he has a chance to go high, and if he does return his production next year won't match what he did this year and that'll drop his stock even further.

I’m okay with that. Not because I think Haskins sucks. He’s a great football player. But he’s just not a fit for Meyer’s ideal system like Tate Martell is. There is almost no running threat from Haskins, and that has always been a huge component of what Meyer wants to do with his QBs.

Who knows, maybe Martell wins the job outright next Fall. But this makes it that much harder for him to do so.

If there's even a shred of a chance that Tate Martell wins the starting job from me next year (and there is with OSU and their love of dual-threats), and after the season I've had this year, I go pro as soon as humanly possible. Injury, the chance I have a down year, the QB competition in the upcoming draft... I can't believe he wouldn't go pro if he thinks he can perform well in the combine/measurables.  Take your money and run, kid.

If he can be drafted in the first 5 rounds he should go.  OSU's offense will not teach him what he needs for the pro game.  It would slow down his development.  He won't put more on tape for the people to see because of the offense he plays in.

Go and learn your craft in the show.

I can't imagine a single OSU QB is looked upon all that favorably by NFL types, especially when he's devolved into more of a checkdown QB as the season progressed.

I just don't see a drop back statue making money in the NFL. Young man needs to learn some movement. Take some dance classes maybe.

While it's true that the league has slowly started to accept more mobile QBs, its foolish to think statue-esque QBs can't make money in the league. Otherwise why did Kirk Cousins just get handed one of the biggest NFL contracts in history? Or Matt Ryan? Or Drew Brees? Or Matt Stafford? Never even mind the GOAT Tom Brady, who is the true definition of a statue in the backfield. None of those guys have real mobility, but they're taking home a pretty damn fat paycheck every week.

I'd say mobility like what Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson have are very much added bonuses, and you'd love for your QB to have it, as long as they're smart about using it. But at the end of the day, NFL coaches care far more about your accuracy and the ability to stand tall in the pocket, go through your reads, and get the throw off in time before the sack comes. Those things are required job skills. Mobility and the ability to extend plays are preferred job skills, but not necessarily required to succeed at a high level.

I'd happily trade mobility for accuracy and making smart decisions with the ball.

Ohio St board MODs are saying that D Haskins didnt even register for next semester (the only player in the current team) according to Bill Greene (OSU) he had to register before November, which is confusing, will he still be bowl eligible ?

So he is 100% leaving Ohio St for the draft

I think hes a Cardale Jones clone,he will be drafted round 4 and never see a meaningful NFL snap

I'm not sure what to make of the OSU vs Michigan matchup, here. I had not seen much of OSU before the MSU game. I was expecting more out of Haskins...a lot more. Under any duress he was very pedestrian. With this in mind, I would expect Don Brown to come after him big-time...and I would expect OSU to be prepared to counter with a quick release, short passing game. Expect Michigan's corners to play inside the jerseys and the safeties to be close to the line of scrimmage to under-cut the short routes.

I believe Brown will defend Martell similarly to Haskins. Against Haskins they are forcing to him to make a quick decision on throwing while against Martell-they are coming after him to take away the running game lanes...maybe spy Hudson on him. It all works to the same end.

Otherwise, I expect OSU's elite athleticism to make this a hard-fought battle. This is what we pay to see. I would rather have Shea on my side than either Haskins or Martell.
