I suppose that somehow mathematically Kentucky does control their own destiny, but, uh...NO!

Winning out would give them wins over UGA and Alabama or LSU so... yeah.
I imagine they get eliminated by UGA next weekend though.

why doesn't osu control their own destiny?

Think OU is ahead of them in the pecking order. Which I would rate as something like:
1. Undefeated Alabama
2. Undefeated Clemson
3. Undefeated ND
4. One loss SEC Champion
5. One loss Michigan
6. One loss Alabama
7. One loss Big 12 Champion
8. One loss Ohio State
9. One loss Washington State
10. .Undefeated UCF
So I think Ohio State would need to win out, get a loss from Clemson, ND, or Oklahoma, and Alabama to win the SEC.

Michigan controls OSUs future.

Same as last year; blowout loss on the road to a bad B1G West team. Last year Iowa, this year Purdue.

Because even if they win out, they could be left out because of a horrid loss to Purdue.

Oregon getting run by Arizona. The Pac-12, outside of Wazzu (and maybe Utah now), sucks and it sucks hard.
October 28th, 2018 at 12:49 AM ^
The Pac-12 doesn't suck hard. They're more like the big ten west. It may be a jumble but I wouldn't say Iowa, NW, Wisconsin, Purdue suck hard. It's not surprising for any of them to win or lose any given game. They just don't have that standout team or 2 and they beat up on each other.

and they barely play defense.
October 28th, 2018 at 12:56 AM ^
True but not as bad as the big 12. But when you break it down the SEC and Big 10 are really the only conferences that do as a whole. It's a CFB offense golden age.
October 28th, 2018 at 12:58 AM ^
Okay, maybe the Pac-12 doesn't suck hard. Maybe it just sucks regular. ;-)

Arizona is kicking Oregon around like a bunch of diggity shiggity
October 28th, 2018 at 12:56 AM ^
AZ is up 30-8 midway through the 3rd. Why the hell couldn't Rich Rod win with this team?
Oh, wait, never mind...
October 28th, 2018 at 1:53 AM ^
now 44-15. oof.
October 28th, 2018 at 4:00 AM ^
They were 3-5 going into Saturday. Current guy isn't doing a ton of winning either.

I think Sumlin will do for Arizona what the fans of Arizona want ... which is put up 7-5 or 8-4 seasons, beat ASU about half the time, and go to non-playoff bowl games. This is Sumlin's first year, so there's some slack offered.
Right now the fans of UA are looking towards basketball season. Not because of the current FB record, but because BB is the game here, not FB.
(Recruiting to Tucson is hard ... hard like recruiting to Nebraska. Tucson is a minor city wrapped around the university and county government. Beyond that, it's a sprawling retirement center everywhere else.)

"which is put up 7-5 or 8-4 seasons, beat ASU about half the time, and go to non-playoff bowl games."
I thought that RR would be competent enough to meet that relatively low bar, but his conference record was 24-30, his defenses were every bit the joke they were at Michigan if not worse, and he went 2-4 against ASU. And then there was the whole banging a staffer thing.
Considering that he was one of the hottest young coaches in the country at the end of the 2007 season, what a pathetic descent.
