Quavaris Crouch tells the Charlotte Observer Michigan and Clemson are tied for #1 on his list

Crouch said he planned official visits to Michigan Nov. 3, Clemson Nov. 17 and Alabama Dec. 7. He’s also planning visits to Southern Cal and Florida State. He also told the State that he’s got leaders.

“I would say Michigan is No. 1, but the weather is crazy,” Crouch said. “I feel like Michigan and Clemson are tied for No. 1.”

Earlier this week Steve Wiltfong said he thought Clemson was leading.

I talked to another source this morning that feels Clemson is indeed in the driver seat for the coveted recruit.

My Crystal Ball was on Tennessee and there is belief that when the Vols get their official they could flip this back their way.

A third source believes Michigan has a chance to make a move when the blue-chipper takes his official for the Penn State game the weekend of Nov. 3. I've been sleeping on the Maize and Blue here but I'm starting to buy them as a major contender. Crouch has always been high on the Wolverines and included them in his favorites, I was just told weather would be a factor in his decision by someone close to him early in the process. We'll see what happens early next month.

Florida State is scheduled to get Crouch on campus this weekend per our Clemson insider at 247Sports in Anna Hickey.

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite bills Crouch as the nation's No. 2 athlete, No. 1 prospect in North Carolina and No. 28 player regardless of position.

I don't understand the weather issue with recruits? If they truly plan on playing in the NFL they don't get to choose where they play. Would he not want to be drafted by New England because of the weather?

Having lived in the Charlotte area now for more than a decade after moving from Ann Arbor, I can honestly say I'd rather be here than there during the winter. That said, I still love A2 and I think most people feel that way when they come to know it.

Truth is, when you go to school, part of the adventure is learning and sharing new experiences and making new friends, in some cases that are lifelong, so the most important thing I think for any college recruit isn't the climate of the place he's considering, it's the climate of the people he meets and the feel he has about imagining himself going to school there and participating in that environment. Sure, warm weather is better than cold, especially if you are from here. But I think in this context, Q was talking about making the choice to move and wondering aloud about the weather.

Having sat out most of his senior year, has to be tough for the kid. And one of the reasons he's attached himself to Clemson is because of a built-in friendship there based on some previous conversations in the press. But even that isn't that concerning, ultimately, Also, the ACC championship game will be played in Charlotte, so he will have another chance to visit with the team when it plays here during early December.

Charlotte is only three hours from Clemson and Ann Arbor is 10 or more, and weeks behind in weather respects. Nevertheless, my son went to Clemson, and I can honestly tell you that Ann Arbor beats it out in every respect besides weather, which again I don't think will ultimately matter in Crouch's choice of school. It might be a factor, but not the most important.

He used the word "but"...I dont know how he used that with the tone of his voice or how he really feels about northern weather. Just hope he puts on the Michigan cap on and sends in his LOI to us. GoBlue!

Would be cool if people posting Croots posts include the croot's position/ranking for those of us that don't follow the croots that closely.

Just a friendly idea

The Old Farmers Almanac and the Weather Channel agree; temps in the 40's and likelihood of rain in Ann Arbor on November 3.

Tomorrow, October 26th, the weather in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina is predicted as temps in the 40's and likelihood of rain.

Agreed

And if you look at Super Bowl champs of the past few decades basically ALL of them are cold weather teams. If he wants to have a long winning career beyond college then he better get used to cold weather

Im not really getting my hopes up for Crouch.

I bet he goes to Clemson but with Alabama's bagmen getting a crack at him I wouldn't be surprised if he last second committed to them

Can you imagine getting Hinton, Dax, Harrison, and Crouch on defense? Fuck thatd be epic. Add in guys like Mazi, Turner, Thomas, and Ojabo…...Don Brown would be in heaven

Back in the day I moved from Michigan to San Francisco for grad school.  During my first winter in CA, while playing tennis in shorts and a t shirt at Golden Gate Park mid-December, I said to myself "self, why do people live in the midwest?"
