Spartans Wearing Helmets to Confront Bush/Wolverines

The MSM seems to be trying to paint Devin Bush as the villain in the Spartan Walk / Bush League / BS drama.  What I find very frustrating is the lack of coverage of the likely intent of Dantonio and the Spartan team.  The Spartans do this ritual before home games, but against other teams, the Spartan players don't wear helmets.

If anyone has been in a shoving match (or fight) during a football game, the first rule is to keep you helmet on as protection.  Given the difference in attire for this game versus other games, I think it is safe to assume that the Spartans had an intention of getting into a confrontation during their hand-holding session on Saturday.

All I thought to myself after seeing him tear up the logo was "Fine, but he'd better back it up on the field, because he will never hear the end of it if he loses." He backed it up. The whole damn defense did.

If he'd torn up the logo completely unprovoked, that would've been one thing. But is anyone in EL bothering to ask the question of "who started it?" I doubt it. All they're talking about is how classless and dirty they think UM is. As if MSU wasn't pulling this kind of shit on us for years.

Dantonio did this to undoubtedly to put Michigan in a "lose-lose" situation. If the team fights back, he can pull the DISRESPEKT cark again. If we don't, well, he still gets to interrupt the team's warm-ups and get inside their head.

I completely agree with McLeft Shark.

The image of Bush kicking the Spartan logo will be shown for every UM/MSU game for years to come.  Probably more so than Mike Hart's little brother comment.  And even that was stupid because they were referred to as little brother loooooooong before that 2007 game.

This was one of the leading stories on Yahoo's home page the last two days, titled 'Michigan player disrespects rival's field.'   Next to nothing about what led up to it.

It's exhausting how much of a dickhead Dantonio is.  I hope Purdue beats the hell out of them.

Dantonio and his MSU are like a teenage girl. Always looking for drama and if it's not there, looking to start up drama so they can post about it in their IG story. Even if they fail to make drama, they'll fabricate something about how something was so disrespectful and 'I cannot believe that Becky did that!!'

It's tiring. They're gonna be offended no matter what we do. Might as well lean into it.

Seeing a lot of commentators say stuff like, "The full-field walk is their tradition, they do it before every game..." Well if it's a tradition, it's a tradition designed to provoke and intimidate the opponent. Allowing the visiting team part of the field to warm up is a basic courtesy along the lines of providing reasonable locker rooms.

The walkthrough is definitely tradition. However, almost ALWAYS (that I’ve ever seen, anyway) is without helmets. Usually in Suits or warm-ups. Dantonio had them show up late intentionally. That’s a Bush-league move. It was strictly a lack of class and gamesmanship from him because he knew his team couldn’t keep up with Harbaugh’s Michigan team. Normally, I could ‘respect’ Dantonio in terms of his teams results, but this is a step too far.

Yeah, it was clearly an attempt to intimidate.  I've seen a lot of walk-thrus on gameday and they almost never feature helmets, and I don't ever remember it being sweats and helmets.

My only issue with the antics is with Mork.  It really is his responsibility to pull his player away once things escalate.  The fact that he watched the shit unfold with a smile on his face announces loud and clear that he is a douchebag.

Here's how I look at it: defacing the other's logo happens every year, one way or another. Someone spray painted the block M in the diag the week before, Devin Bush roughs up the logo at midfield. It's part of the rivalry. Just like the stake incident. The only negative about that incident was that we lost.
