Possibility of MSU being a night game?

Submitted by MGoBlue96 on September 25th, 2018 at 10:14 AM

So what are the chances that the MSU game is a night game? Just curious because my wife wanted to go to a Halloween event on the 20th, but after looking at the slate of games for the 20th it looks like a decent chance it will be the primetime game. Will we find out the game time before October 1st?

Well for one thing it's really crowded, despite the large venue and multi-floor / multi-room set up.

You might walk into a room and see a mostly naked person with 25 gigantic fishhooks through their back hanging from a ceiling.  Next room may have someone getting their ass whipped with a flogger.  Room after that has a band playing with a midget singer dressed up like a scary Japanese clown.

And then there's the weird stuff...

Honestly the worst part about it was having to wait in line for an hour.  There wasn't a VIP option and it was cold as fuck outside.

There's a lot of eye candy there and you'll get laid for sure when you get home.  There's also many people that you'd rather not have seen.

You also have to wear a costume or black tie IIRC.  I wore a tux.

Yeah, it's mostly watching.  Some things can be interactive if you like, and there's always a decent number of drunk/drugged people flopping around and getting handsy, but nothing too extreme.

There are plenty of swingers there, but that's not my bag and I've never been bothered.  If you consider yourselves to be "normal" people it might be uncomfortable at some points.

I'm not trying to discourage you, because you'll probably have a lot of fun.  Just want you to be prepared.  So get dressed up, put a leash on the wife, and enjoy!

No limits as far as I've been able to tell.  Maybe make sure your butthole is covered?  Because I saw more than one butthole there.

Some people make really elaborate costumes.  The wife and I went Victorian formal and wore masks (think Eyes Wide Shut).  But a lot of people were mostly naked.

And some of them really shouldn't have been.

It's too expensive (IMO) to just go for two hours.  I'd want to get there around 10ish.  Plus, your wife is going to take a long time getting ready.  It was pretty balls out right from the beginning.  No need to wait for midnight.

Also, it's really different than a Michigan game.  Not sure your head would be in the right place, unless we just pound the shit out of MSU.

Please no!

It’s probably unsubstantiated, and more about opponent quality and road woes, but night games during the Harbaugh tenure have been rough... Kinneck, Happy Valley, MSU (2017), South Bend

Was Minnesota the only win?

I have no information, but here is my best guess as to how the rest of the season will play out in terms of game times:

9/29 at NW - confirmed for 4:30 p.m.

10/6  home against Maryland - confirmed for noon

10/13 home against Wisco - night game.  We only have two decent home games - this one and PSU on 11/3, and I think that there is a preference against night games in November in the B1G because of temperature concerns.

10/20 at Sparty - night game (a) Rivalry game; (b) at least one of us might be ranked in the top 15 by then and possibly both (we need to win the winnable ones and beat Wisco, sparty needs beat CMU and NW and then PSU).  If we both win out until then, this is definitely a night game.  If we both lose our tough one, this game could lose luster and fall to a day time.  I still think that Sparty pushes for this to be at night, since this is their Super Bowl.

10/27 - bye

11/3 - home against PSU - 3:30.  Bonus prediction - if we both continue to win out until this game, Hello GameDay in AA.

11/10 - at Rutgers - 3:30 (although this could equally be noon)

11/17 - at OSU - confirmed noon

11/17 - is a home game versus Indiana, Kickoff TBD (all the match-ups this weekend are pretty meh, so this could definitely be a 3:30 kick)

We play OSU on 24 November at Noon.

Also, 10 November is a big match-up weekend for the Big 10.  You have Wisconsin @ PSU and OSU @ MSU.  Michigan @ Rutgers looks like a Noon game to me.

I've heard a couple of times that PSU will be a night game (including something about the support staff already being told to prepare for it).  That's all still a rumor.  Is it possible that Michigan could have three consecutive night games (Wisky, Sparty and PSU).....with a bye week thrown in the middle?

I'm flying up from Florida for the PSU game (and hosting a few Nittany Lion fans).  I'll be pulling for your suggested 3:30 start time......and possibly Game Day!

For your MSU prediction, the network will need to decide by October 8 if the game will be a night game or not as the B1G does not allow the 6 day flex option to be pushed into a night game. We will not have played Wisconsin and MSU will not have played PSU by that point so those games are not going to be taken into consideration.

"I still think that Sparty pushes for this to be at night since this is their Super Bowl."

Really?

With all due respect, the Michigan Wolverines have beaten MSU exactly two times in the course of a decade and have not won a BIG Championship or been victorious over a team of consequence in god knows how long [to say nothing of the trash school in Columbus].

It is precisely this kind of arrogance that lends merit to so many people around the country detesting the collective UM fanbase. As a Spartan who hates Michigan football but respects the program and its tradition, you really don't do your school any favors by being so dismissive of MSU, a football program that has single-handedly emasculated your precious Wolverines for the better part of 10 years now.

As the "Leaders and the Best", I would recommend you act like it from time to time --- at least until you actually win something.

Sincerely,
Everyone who isn't a Michigan fan
