Beekman...

“In regards to the crimes committed on our campus by Larry Nassar, the NCAA findings do not change a thing,” Beekman said. “NCAA member organizations have a specific set of rules to which we hold each other accountable. And while we agree with the NCAA that we did not commit a violation, that does not diminish our commitment to ensure the health, safety and wellness of our student athletes. That pledge permeates everything we do as part of a larger university commitment to making MSU a safer campus.

“As it relates to the handling of student-athlete conduct issues, at Michigan State we are committed to following all appropriate policies and procedures. Today’s findings provide external validation of Mark Dantonio and Tom Izzo and the way they administer their programs. Mark and Tom represent the athletic department and Michigan State University with integrity."

I helped you out in correcting your post.

"None of this news should lesson THE CONTEMPT YOU FEEL FOR the vile, criminal behavior of Larry Nassar or the Incompetent People (ENTIRE MSU ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT) who enabled him over the years. However, putting aside your utter contempt for Michigan State, I would think that many of you would be able to come to terms with the fact that (THE MONSTERS KNOWN AS) Dantonio and Izzo are not the monsters you (KNOW) want to believe they are. "

Now what were you saying again?

My favorite comment from the ESPN Article: http://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/24523562/michigan-state-says-cleared-violations-larry-nassar-scandal-ncaa

Lindsey Lemke, a former captain of the Michigan State gymnastics team, said Klages ignored her concerns about Nassar in the fall of 2016 and had the team sign a sympathy card for the former team doctor after he was fired.

"It's a good thing there are multiple other investigations going on other than [the] NCAA, where hopefully they will be able to reveal more truth of how this situation got to be as bad as it did," Lemke said to WLNS and later to ESPN on Thursday. "If the world's worst pedophile in history working at MSU and getting away with abuse for 20 years isn't considered a violation, then what is the point?"

That pretty much sums it up.

Didn't know the NCAA was doing anything with either Nassar or rape/cover up . Thought it was pretty clear after Penn State that problems like this are considered outside of their investigatory and regulatory purview. When they imposed sanctions there, the NCAA admitted there was no rules violation when they imposed the punishment. Publicly and explicitly stated.  If memory serves me correct.

Which says it all on a lot of levels about the meaning if this news.

Of course.  Because we live in bizzaro world now where the powers that be turn a blind eye to immoral, unethical and sometimes illegal behavior for the sake of the bottom line.

*sigh* you're missing the point.

Setting aside the actual power of the NCAA for a second, MSU's football and basketball programs have had MANY signs indicating a sweeping of things under the rug, with no sense of accountability attached because MSU is a WAAC school. They know that prior to Dantonio and Izzo they were pretty much a second tier B1G school in sports.

Any investigation outing those two coaches as being whitewashers for their players' crimes would set their programs back, and they know it.  Hollis' forced "retirement" was making him the essential fall guy. You can always get another AD; a coach is far more pivotal in the immediate scheme of things.

Love it that the NCAA all clear is issued as an asst coach is facing criminal charges with respect to her role in enabling sex assault.  So if she is convicted will the NCAA reopen or should we just conclude that you can commit a crime but not violate NCAA rules.  Makes you wonder a bit about those rules.
