Notes and thoughts thread on Open Practice

Submitted by Ma1zeandB1ue on

Thought it would be a good idea to just have a single place for people to go to check on thoughts and notes from the open practice.

To kick things off, Rashan is in full pads and gear.

Six days my friends!

With Tarik black or without, next Saturday will come down to how well we run the ball, and every single game this whole year will come down to that

Sure we are going to miss Tarik, but the way we will be able to win without him isn’t the other receivers picking up all the slack, it will be our running game

Man I disagree. We’re not bama. We can’t just pound the ground game away at elite defenses and expect to win. It hasn’t worked to this point, and I believe the chatter about shotgun heavy rotations. This is the most talented passing game we’ve had since harbaughs been here (with or without black). Our best chance to beat elite opponents is to use it.

I agree. DPJ and Collins both could have gone to just about any school (if not any) in the country. We have other pieces around them plus TEs. We have plenty of talent and receiver still. And Black may be back around week 6-8 and if he works his way back slowly 100% by OSU isn’t outlandish.

We need to be better passing the ball for sure, but I think we need to be able to run the ball to really be successful.

I don’t care who we have back there as qb, if they have to shoulder all the heavy lifting we will have at least 3-4 losses on our schedule

It goes hand in hand.  One of the reasons we could not run last year when we needed to was because we were not a credible threat to throw.  I don't know how many times I saw 8, 9 guys in the box against us when we were in a passing situation.  And it was the right call.

The line moved from -3 to a pickem, or +1 today. That’s massive movement a week before a game. No way that many ND fans could move that number.

I wonder if there’s something more to these injuries?
