yeah, OP, let's celebrate a potential judge just because he's from here, rather than because of what he stands for. Tribalism over facts. The American way.
Using that logic, we should never ever root for anything Michigan, because..well..that's Tribalism!
Or maybe we should make an independent judgement about whether it’s something we are proud of and then root for those things we are proud of.

As many have stated, I also would love to see a Michigan alum on the SCOTUS. However, hard to fathom a candidate that would align with the President's thoughts as to the laws of the Republic. Sounds like we'll all know soon.
