OT: G.O.A.T Historical Figures
Hi everyone. I hope you’re enjoying your weekend.
I thought I would bring back the GOAT series part 3. Part 1 was movies, part 2 was Actors.
Here we go.... the criteria is as follows; Cannot be a religious figure, or a president. I know a lot of those would fit, but sadly I don’t think a lot of people know how to handle it. If you do name a political figure (I didn’t eliminate them because we are already limiting ourselves here) please just leave a name and don’t argue with anyone or be rude. Also, it must be someone who you feel made a major contribution or impact to society or a played an important role in something. Lastly, it must be someone who has a Wikipedia page.... this way we don’t say a family member that nobody has heard of and they must be a real person. Ok... so let’s go top 3 only.
In order.
1. MLK Jr.
2. Albert Einstein
3. Ben Franklin
Am I out of line with these? This was hard to narrow down to 3.
Jesus
Allah.
You're both wrong.
J.R. "Bob" Dobbs and it isn't close.
Siddharhta Gautama, Karl Marx, and Johannes Gutenberg.
Revelation X is the true word. Good to know i have a fellow Brother in Bob. The Church of the Sub Genius is the one true church.
There's an interesting book I've had for years called "The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential People in History" that has an interesting take on this. He notes that Christianity didn't spread because of Jesus, whose proselytizing was very limited geographically and didn't really convert that many people. It was Paul who took Christianity big time and made it spread out, so the two of them dilute each other in the rankings a bit (3 for JC, 6 for Paul).
so no religious figures but.....
Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the civil rights movement from 1954 until his death in 1968. Wikipedia
Yeah, I can’t edit, but I meant like founders of religion.
very interesting you see MLK as a minister, but not as a civil rights leader.
1. Albert Einstein
2. Adolf Hitler
3. Nikola Tesla
Adolph was Head of State
Hitler? How is he great? He caused the downfall of Germany and was responsible for millions of deaths.
Hitler is obviously the embodiment of evil and didn't do anything "great" per say, but his enormous impact on world history can't be denied.
Ok... I hear you, but GOAT status does not fit him imo.
No Gengis Khan, eh?
I definitely debated. Another evil figure that easily fits in the top 10.
You said Hitler was GOAT...you have issues.
I guess in the PHRASING way, I did. That's not at all how I meant it, dude.
Tesla should absolutely be on this list.
Yeah, look at the amazing cars he has made!!!
/s
Bill Gates
I would have him top 10.
Isaac Newton
Aristotle
Shakespeare
Edison
Man those are good. It would be hard for me not to have Shakespeare and Edison at 4 and 5 respectively.
Galileo laid the foundation for a lot of scientists.
I would have a hard time putting Edison on the list without Tesla.
Edison had a factory of smart people inventing things that he put his name on.
Beethoven
Gretzky
Stan Lee
Gauss
Euler
Da Vinci
Euclid
1. Socrates
2. Einstein
3. Shakespeare
Jung
Nietzsche
Darwin
Marx
Ray Kurzweil
Jonathan Franzen
Billy Corgan
Sojourner Truth
Socrates
William Herschel
Nikola Tesla
John Cusack
Robert Bunsen (burner guy)
Gwen Stefani
Conquered a significant portion of the world. his descendants are everywhere. not the nicest guy but his impact can't be denied.
Caesar might make the list too. did more than just make a great salad...
He also very much enjoyed Twinkies because of the excellent sugar rush
So-crates is my favorite historical figure.
Yeah but the Grim Reaper was funnier.
And he was great in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
1. George Washington
2. Winston Churchill
3. Brian Cook
Colin Cowherd. He’s so dreamy.
Obama
I take it you're joking, but you really could make a case for Obama in the top whatever, maybe 20, 50?
Guttenberg for inventing movable type and the printing press.

Good point; he allowed the common people to learn how to read.
Larry Flint
hugh hefner
Susan B Anthony
1 of these is not like the others
/s just in case
Bob Guccione for the win!
