ESPN's 'FPI' Says Penn St Will Lose to Michigan
ESPNs FPI, their prediction metric (that pie chart thingy), says Penn St will go 11-1, only losing to Michigan at The Big House. They even have them beating Ohio St, at Happy Valley, in the White Out Game. Penn St has Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan St, all at home. They travel to Pitt, a team they have trouble with. 11-1? After seeing how Penn St has played in the last 2 years, no one will be taking them for granted. It seems 11-1 will be very hard for them to get.

Nice. I was a little worried about that game but good to know we will win !
Given, Saquon is gone and Michigan owns that school. The series should probably be at like 16-5 but there were the dark years as we will never forget. One could argue that they are a top 10 blue blood program of all time. #Owned
PSU certainly had their "dark years" as well --- and I'm not talking the NCAA stuff. JoePa mismanaged that program for the entirety of 2000-2011.
I think the PSU/U-M series is finally ready to go back to what it was in the 1993-1999 era: Top 15ish teams and a game of high importance in the B1G race. An entire generation has grown up not knowing that era.
The teams have played 14 times in the 2000s - there have only been 2 games (2002 & 2017) where both teams were ranked. That's crazy when you think about both program's histories. In the 1993-1999 era, all 7 games featured 2 ranked teams: the teams were ranked in the Top 10 50% of the time.
Pay back from our only blowout loss last year. I hope we shut them out 45-0. If we have any chance of winning the B1G we need to beat PSU at home. I'd like to beat WI at home as well but if there is a home game we can lose it would against WI.
A B1G East Champion can't lose home games
I also think they'll lose to us in Ann Arbor and figure they have a decent shot to beat OSU in Happy Valley (white out game). But I don't see them going 11-1. Not only do they lose Barkley, Gesicki and Moorhead, but a bunch of the guys who made that defense significantly better than any other defense they've had since Franklin got there.
Their offense will still be good, but it won't be as explosive and their defense won't be as solid as it was last year. I'd guess 10-2.
Oh, also btw...according to that article you linked to, FPI does not predict that PSU will go 11-1. They predict 9.7 - 2.3, which you could round up to 10-2.
(They just say that FPI favors PSU in 11/12 games. Their model assumes they'll drop 1.3 other games somewhere along the way.)
I never pay attention to that, unless someone posts it here, but is that thing correct or close to correct on a year to year basis?
Well that's a bummer. Frustratingly Pathetic Index is not something that I can hang my hat on.
I also say they'll lose to UM.
I second that. All in favor say "Aye".
The 'Ayes' have it.
ESPN's FPI killing it this year. For sure.
