4* West Bloomfield Viper Lance Dixon cancels OV to Michigan next week

Submitted by Bluey on

Per Steve Lorenz. This will be the third straight year year UM has missed on it's top Viper target after Willie Gay and Otis Reese in 2016 and 2017. On top of that he is an in-state recruit coached by alum Ronald Bellamy. For him to not even want to official visit after already losing out on guys like Logan Brown, Devontae Dobbs, Julian Barnett, etc. is just sad.

I almost feel bad for this guy. It’s pretty obvious you allow sports to play too large a role in your individual happiness. Whether Michigan goes 13-0 or 0-13, you are still going to be miserable inside. I would suggest to you, to reevaluate your priorities, get yourself laid, get a puppy, take up bird watching, something besides putting all of your energy into a game you have zero influence on.

PS you always bring up Harbaughs salary, who is it we should hire for less money that will outperform him?

Ill hang up and listen.

Meh, this isn’t surprising. He really hasn’t seemed at all interested in Michigan to begin with. Best of luck to him regardless.

Losing him stinks but I’m not at all worried about our defense. We lost Willie Gay but got Khaleke Hudson. By all accounts that’s turned out great for us, and Khaleke is poised for an All-Big Ten type of season. Don Brown will create playmakers out of whoever comes here.

I disrespekT this thread.  Coaches get paid to recruit and you sir, don't know SHIT.  YOU don' know relations or who they have in mind. Schools miss on good players at times, but fuck off of a kid goes elsewhere.  Take a deep breath.

Over and over again.  Are you in outerspace?  Because you always miss the point when we talk about recruiting.  Old sandbag windpipe mouth.

Wow. Dumpster fire in this thread lol.

Personally, yeah I think it stinks to miss on recruits we have high on our board etc. But also, at the end of the process we are going to get who we are going to get. Some recruits we want, some that weren't as high on our board. And every year I'm going to continue to watch every game. And every year I'm going to hope we do well. And every year I'm going to continue to be a Michigan Wolverine because I can't imagine anything better. I felt that way all through the 90s and 00s, and I even felt that way through the Rich Rod/Brandon/Hoke eras. It won't ever change - it might be more difficult, but it doesnt change. Regardless of what recruits we get or don't get, regardless of who the coach is, regardless of our records, I'm still going to be there rooting and happy to support my team. It actually makes me happy to know that this university and it's sports programs don't bring me as much anguish and derail my life quite the same as they seem to with a select few on this board.

Yes, I'd love to see us go undefeated and win titles every year. Yes, it sucks to see OSU do it on a regular basis. But no, I'm not going to join in hating my school or coaches or students/athletes for winning "only" 8 or 9 games, or something to that effect. I'm going to continue to be a fan of this school and it's programs, and I'm going to continue to believe that the students and student-athletes that come here are making the best decision a young kid can make for themselves. There's nothing wrong with being competitive and upset about some of the off season stuff or our inability to find a suitable LT or something. But when complaining and and screaming about the sky falling is consuming most of your energy surrounding the program you "love" so much (and on a message board no less), are you really even a fan anymore?

To the extent that the coaches are having problems recruiting (and I don't even know if that's the case or not), a successful 2018 season will fix them. Just win and everything else will take care of itself.

Definitely a bummer. Of course, I wish the kid the best. However, I do question the judgment of a kid who declines the opportunity to play viper for Don Brown and travel the world for free at a world class institution near his hometown.

Your post is so fraught with assumptions it’s pathetic.  First, we’re not “getting our ass kicked in instate recruiting.  Secondly, you’re assuming that this kid will not eventually commit and sign with Michigan.   Then, after assuming the first two are true (which is dubious at best), you’re assuming that Harbaugh & Co. (I’m assuming you’re talking about them) are ambivalent about these two (dubious) assumptions.  Then comes the crowning jewel of your assumptive tiara; the assertion that this assumed ambivalence is evidenced by the fact that they aren’t doing anything about your first dubious assumption.  Lastly, the entire web of assumptive logic (aka, horseshit) is supported by the assumption that a) there is, in fact, something that they could do, but are not, to make instate recruits come to Michigan ; and b) that you would be privy to whether they were or weren’t doing that something.

Maybe Harbaugh & Co. should start Shanghaiing players to placate certain elements of the fan base who believe that EVERY instate player MUST go to Michigan or it’s a huge failure on the part of the coaching staff.  Michigan as a school and a program isn’t for everyone. The sooner you come to grips with that the less hand wringing you’ll do and maybe you’ll enjoy the program a bit more.

Or you can just admit the truth Sten.  We are without question getting our asses kicked in in state recruiting.  Outstate recruiting wasn’t so hot either last year if you really want to know the truth.

And trust me I love this program as much as anyone on this board.

The board doesn't care to listen to your bullshit anymore, man. You pride yourself in being the bearer of bad news and you love being inflammatory and making people "#madonline". Just shut the fuck up, sit down. It must suck being a big ole bitch about everything all the time.

Also, and I don't know why I even care, but apparently he never had an official set up anyway.  He may well not come to Michigan, but this seems as much 247 being wrong about something and then a bunch of people not admitting they were wrong and instead going with the "let's drive some clicks with a salty headline" type of reporting.

Don't do this. Whether we landed him or not, Michigan is clearly targeting him and has been for a long time. People say this any time we may lose a recruit and it looks petty. Especially here considering how Michigan's staff clearly values him.

Hey Maizen/Bluey/Asshat you do realize Dixon is on the defensive side of the ball correct? The same defense that has been ranked in the top 5 in total defense since Brown has gotten here. How about we tone down the sky is falling routine because a recruit decided to not take an official.
