No. Play for the win, not the tie. I liked the decision. The way this year has gone, if we'd kicked that FG, Northwestern probably would have run a picture-perfect five-minute drive for the game-winning score.

i would have been happy if this had been a one comment thread, and yours was that comment.
concise. no wasted words. somewhat poetic.

Just landed in Miami and heard Michigan won. All I want to know is did they outcoach the opposition?

What about Hoke? He DOES THE SAME THING when Michigan does something well or messes up! Walks forward clapping while yelling "Execute better!"

Glad they practice the quick FG. Props for that.
Props to Mattison for keeping (or calling the plays) them at bay most of the day...I dare say, eating hay.

Gibbons never got set. He walked back and immediately walked forward. Should have been illegal procedure.

Good overtime
November 16th, 2013 at 7:26 PM ^
also, thank you based refs.

November 16th, 2013 at 8:43 PM ^
I usually bitch about refs a lot, but not much this year. Today it really seemed like they wanted us to win.
November 16th, 2013 at 7:27 PM ^
Disgusting.
November 16th, 2013 at 8:44 PM ^
Hoke apologists....amazingly so.....they must love mediocrity and ineptness
Michigan needs a new direction
November 17th, 2013 at 10:10 AM ^
As long as a Michigan Man is coaching Michigan that's all that matters.
November 16th, 2013 at 7:28 PM ^
I'm over Borges. Period.
But -- Lewan got beat and gave up a sack. Bosch got beat and gave up a sack. Schofield got beat and gave up a sack. The FB got beat and gave up a sack. Gardner threw 4 or 5 near, shoulda-been, interceptions. Hard to coordinate an offense with play like that.
But, yeah. Borges, wtf, man? No TDs in 12 quarters of play? For real?
One positive: Green and Smith look better than Toussaint.
November 16th, 2013 at 7:28 PM ^
All coaching was bad today. Awful.
I've lost confidence in Hoke after that 4th down call.
November 16th, 2013 at 7:33 PM ^
However, the play call on that 4th down play was atrocious. If you are going to run that specific play, you need to run it to the far side of the field where there is more space for your athletic QB to make a play. Also, you have a top 10 draft pick on the left side of your OL in Lewan.
Again, I like the call to go for it. I don't like the play call at all.
November 16th, 2013 at 7:38 PM ^
I don't. You go for the tie when you have a tough time getting points all game. We could've been driving for the win instead of the tie late.
November 16th, 2013 at 7:42 PM ^
Why not run the Statue of Liberty there? Easy 6 points....
November 16th, 2013 at 7:49 PM ^
The chance of gibbons tieing it is a lot better than getting a 1st down.
November 16th, 2013 at 8:00 PM ^
You Play To Win The Game.
November 16th, 2013 at 8:06 PM ^
Then why ever punt or kick a FG? Who said we weren't going to get the ball back exactly like we did?
November 16th, 2013 at 8:07 PM ^
November 16th, 2013 at 8:13 PM ^
If we hadn't got that kick off everyone on here would've been calling for Hoke's firing for not going for the tie earlier in the game.

November 16th, 2013 at 8:27 PM ^
I haven't agreed with much of what Brady has called this season and a lot of his decisions (I called it, on this board, that people were overlooking Borges as a bad hire.) Look we were head to head with Bama for the #3 player in the nation not two days ago, and people made it seem like the worst event ever even though Hoke was been recruiting REALLY well (I also called Da'Shawn Hand to Alabama two weeks ago and was mocked, on this board.)
November 16th, 2013 at 8:32 PM ^
All of the bad coaching this year since the ND game probably made Hand not want to be a part of this.
November 16th, 2013 at 8:39 PM ^
I knew, on a personal level, the week after PSU that Hand was going to Alabama. At that time, most people were only slightly worried about the staff's coaching ability.
November 16th, 2013 at 10:22 PM ^
something, but how exactly did you call something two weeks ago when you joined today? Is this you RDT?
November 16th, 2013 at 8:30 PM ^
It was also against a team that is one of the worst in the big ten. It's like the rich rod years again. ''Just be happy! We won!'' Give me a break dude. There was still bad coaching galore in this game.
November 16th, 2013 at 8:36 PM ^
You're the type of negativity in the fan base that breeds a culture which resulted in Rodriguez's premature termination! Brady will coach up his players without the damage the bad half of the fanbase brings (we know which side that is). It's certainly can't help the players and I know recruits who often cite this type of petty stuff as something they seriously consider. Do you want to lower this fanbase to the level of ohioan berserkers?
November 16th, 2013 at 8:37 PM ^
November 16th, 2013 at 8:39 PM ^
Thank you! This type of boorish behavior should be shouted down by the rational side of this fanbase.

November 16th, 2013 at 8:51 PM ^
November 16th, 2013 at 9:09 PM ^
Yes! I think Iowa is very winnable and ohio did not exactly play like world beaters in today's game against Illinois.
November 16th, 2013 at 9:12 PM ^
That's rich, coming from you. Have you ever had anything positive to say?
