Never thought I'd see the day where Michigan is striving to be/emulating Stanford in football.

i am so jealous of Stanford, been saying it since last year when we were clearly struggling to be a Bo-Ball team (still am, still are)
I like your assesment about Shaw when he was coordinator...im somewhere between the "Fire Borges!" and Borges Apologist spectrum, I still think we need time to see what his players in his scheme can do. That obvioulsy leaves me worried thinking he will just continue to fail even with his players, and his developed line in a year or 2.
It seems like Hoke does not need to shy from philosophy, because, good God, look at Stanford. A team that was a 40 pt u-dog to USC in 2007, and look what they have become. If they can do it, surely we can with the right mix of coaches, scheme, and players.
It seems Hoke needs to fire up his offensive staff with some younger coordinators of similar philosophy to Shaw, Harbaugh, and Bo (obviously). I would love to see a young offensive guy either as a coordinator, line coach, or RB's coach who could be a primed O-coordinator or Coach in waiting when Hoke or Borges time is done. The last thing I want to see Michigan do is fire Hoke in a year or 2 and change overall philosophy again, we will just have another 3-5 years of pain. We would be a 'rinse and repeat has been' much like Notre Dame was for 20 years with all the coaching changes....What this program needs is continuity a-la Bo. Hopefully with a plethora of B1G champs, and some MNC's sprinkled in.
It would pain me a little to see Hoke fired in a couple years if we see much more of the same thru 2015 (because regardless of outcome, i love the guy), but if we did, we would need to go after a guy like Shaw to be our coach, not a guy like Art Briles or Pat Fitzgerald who would just need another 5 years to implement his philosophy. We will be stacked talent-wise by then with manballers.
Go Blue! Hope you watched Stanford last night!

Stanford under Harbaugh modeled its offense to Bo's methodology (and Wisconsin under Alverez). That notwithstanding, they execute it much better at present than we do.

I tuned into the game about half way through the 4th quarter, in time to see Oregon return a blocked FG for a TD, recover an onside kick and get a TD. It really looked for awhile there that Oregon might just pull off a miracle come back.
