Would You Want Michigan to Play Internationally?
With Notre Dame having played in Ireland last year and Penn State playing in Ireland in the upcoming years, I began thinking about whether or not I would want Michigan to play a game internationally. While I obviously wouldn't want to lose a home game, I personally think it would be extremely cool for Michigan to play a game internationally. An international game would allow for Michigan fans from outside of the U.S. to potentially see a game and would allow for foreigners to see Michigan play as well. Additionally, this game would allow me to do my two favorite things: travel and watch Michigan. However, that is just my opinion. What would the board think of an international Michigan football game?

When I've heard of other teams doing it, I just think 'Why?' Then I realize it's just a publicity stunt. It seems like a desparate move - ND signed up to do it when they were still 'coming back' and Penn State is just grasping at anything. In othe words, its dumb.

There is an upcoming bowl game for MAC, C-USA, SBC, MWC, and AAC in the Bahamas. That would be a pretty nice international football game.

U of M basketball did a exibition during the summer in Europe a few years back. I like that scenario because it doesn't mess with their classes and it won't throw off their in season schedule.
Other then that scenerio I would say no I don't like it. It messes with students class schedules and I feel like the traveling and jet lag involved can set you back for the next week. The only time I have flown to Europe and back I felt exausted and thrown off for a few days. I would hate for that to mess up our preparation for the next week. Wouldn't you hate it if our team came out and looked tired the next week due to flying overseas just a few days before?
Also now you are talking about big costs to the university. Not only are you taking away a potential home game from their revenue, but now you have to fly the team, coaches, trainers, Equipment etc out to Europe. That wouldn't be a cheap price tag.
