Wallpaper Offseason - The Devin Guarantee
Ok, so I'm getting this in really quick so that I can go back to taking care of my week-old MGoBaby, but I wanted to post this before I logged off. I made this quick wallpaper because I LOVE the confidence that Devin showed when asked point-blank about the OSU game and this team's championship potential. Hopefully, you all enjoy it. Once I get around to making a mobile and/or tablet version, I'll make this into a diary with some variations to choose from. Until then, constructive criticism is always welcome as I am constantly striving to get my fingers on the board's collective pulse when it comes to wallpaper design. Requests are welcome, as well, but I can't guarantee (unlike Devin) that I'll be up for the challenge at this time.
Go Blue!
EDIT: Added a few textures to give it a little better look.

And I also like the wallpaper.
Reading that quote again, it makes me curious if DG can transfer his confidence to his teammates. That quote was followed by DG talking about how the SEAL training convinced him that the Team could be championship caliber.
Who inspires his teammates? "It's myself along with all the seniors. We went on that (senior leadership trip with the Navy SEALs that coach Brady Hoke leads) and saw how the Navy SEALs work. They are so together. They're ready to put their lives on the line for each other. Obviously, we're not putting our lives on the line, but it's getting close to that when we're on the football field. We brought all those things back to the team. It feels like that trip really solidified the championship run we're ready to take." Devin Gardner has "it".
I don't like guarantees at all. No good comes from them, and frequently they backfire. I have even heard about psychological studies showing that telling people your goals (which is akin to a guarantee) provides an emotional payout that makes it less likely you will actually acheive your goals.
Although I personally tend to agree with you about not wanting to make guarantees, I'd rather Devin say this then act unsure of himself and his team's ability to win. Saying something like "I don't know, I mean they're pretty good" just doesn't inspire hope for anyone.
I feel like it's the way you go about it. Obviously you aren't gonna go out and make a guarantee every single game, but you really have to go into each game expecting to win. If you go in to a game not expecting to win, you've already lost the mental battle.
probably pulled half the fanbase from the ledge.
congrats on the baby. maybe your 'wall paper' idea can go in his/her room.
go blue.
That would actually be cool if done right. High quality print out off all the wallpapers as a collage of sorts or get custom fatheads made. There have been some quality ones over the years.
I move that we stop referring to this confident prediction by Devin Gardner as a "guarantee". He didn't "guarantee" or "promise" to win the game. He simply stated that the team will win. It was a prediction, not a guarantee.
That said, very nice wallpaper.
First and foremost, welcome to MGoParenthood and congratulations on the baby!
Also, I also like embracing this quote and think that the wallpaper is great. We have a few OSU people in the office, so I think I know what shall be on the laptop screen during tomorrow's safety presentation at work.
that Devin not said anything like this publicly and just let his play do the talking. With that said, nice wallpaper.
Love it. I'd take Gardner over B. Miller any day of the week, plus one. With that being said, I think the winner of this year's game stands to gain alot of momentum. It's always an important game because of the rivalry but the winner can grab just that little extra over the other. If OSU wins this year all the Meyer/Osu fans will rise up with lots of banter, more than they usually do, but I'd like to put a big 'ol boot in thier face and push them back down.
Need to bank some sleep! Good for you!
