Drink, fish, drink, fish, drink, fish, fireworks...
Same, minus the fishing and fireworks.
You're missing out. Fishing w/ fireworks is the best! Crocodile Dundee!
Still at work for now. Tomorrow, I'll be cooking BBQ and having a good time watching the fireworks over the Hudson river from my balcony.
... and, of course, clicking refresh on MGoBlog every 3 minutes.
Also traveling back to beautiful MI from nearby Chicago right after work today. Enjoy the long weekend, people!
In the wise words of the Simpsons writing staff, "celebrate your nation's independence by blowing up a small part of it.
What? It's Minnesoooota.
Actually, the weather here has been damn-near perfect for 5 days in a row. (and that is a record in MN) Happy Independance Day; GO BLUE!
...how any
Making sure my one dog doesn't attack the fireworks and my other dog doesn't die from fear of the fireworks.
Oh and beers.
It's a weird family.
Have a 6 pound brisket I need to trim and apply rub to for tomorrow.
Also, have some Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA and margaritas I need to drink. Will start in 2 hours while doing yardwork
Never could upload a new picture/avatar to my old account, "Rasmus" from 2009, after I tried to change it a couple of years ago. Bug seems unlikely to ever get fixed. Brian acknowledged it, but I guess nothing can be done.
You can see why I want to have a picture/avatar. It's from the immortal 1974 student-produced bumper sticker.
Happy 4th, everyone!
Heading up to Lake Orion from Columbus to visit some family. Place is awesome. I can't hate on the entire state..
Stauskas: just a shooter?
Tomorrow, there are a few 4th of July parties and two fireworks displays that we shall be attending - one is the city's display, the other is a display that might violate about every section of the city noise ordinance, judging from the promises made.
Beyond that, I have pledged to the beer in the basement fridge that I will drink this weekend, and there is a stockpile of meat in the fridge - silently marinating - that we shall grill and consume all the way from tonight to Sunday. For me, the weekend started a few hours ago with a quick mowing of the lawn and a few minutes of cursory weeding.
My MGoPlans start tonight. We are having an MGoCookout (MGoBurgers and some others MGoYums) with some MGoBeer.
Tomorrow is my MGoNiece's sixth birthday party.
Friday will feature MGoDayDrinking and then going to a Japanese hibachi grill for some excellent MGoFood.
Saturday is the annual MGoFourthOfJuly party at an MGoFriend's house, which should be fun.
Sunday will be a day to MGoRelax and watch the MGoWimbledon men's final.
humanized?
Canoeing on the Au Sable. First time in ten years. First time with my daughter! Hoping for a break in the weather...
Eating, mostly.
Went to Kings Island last year after it rained and it was fantastic... The park was empty and rode many rides multiple times... Hope your trip is enjoyable even with the rain.
Wish the Fourth was going to be fun and eventful this year out on the lake, but it looks here in Tennessee, we are going to have record rainfall. On the bright side, it looks as if there won't be rednecks at 2 in the morning firing off their illegal fireworks as far as I know.
seem to either involve a pass thru or destination of Grand Rapids. Mine, too, for later today thru tomorrow 7/5.
Happy Independance Day to all, make it a fun one and a safe one!.
But don't forget the real meaning of the day...beer*, maybe?
*just kidding
The real meaning of the holiday, our independance, can't go without mentioning. Not only that, but if I dare go a bit off-topic, I also want to pay homage to an anniversary that just went by, unmentioned (as far as I know) on the MGoBlog: the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.
Being somewhat a history buff, I spent some time the last few days reading anything and everything I could find (within reason) regarding what happened on and around that bloody field in Gettysburg 150 years ago. Without a doubt, it's a battle that will never be forgotten, even if it is still being debated so many years later as to whether it was the most important and crucial battleground in the Civil War. No doubt, it was the most costly, in terms of # of lives lost. Please remember, on this holiday, the sacrifices made, both by those brave men in that battle, and by those who declared Independance from England just a few generations earlier.
GR Baby!!! Beer, pontoon boat, beer, fishing, more beer, and some fireworks to close out the night
