Please don't tell me there is going to be an open thread for all 162 games because that would be incredibly lame. Baseball is clearly the worst thing in existence right now.
I'm going to create a user called Luke Skywolverine and upvote every thread that that asshole Darth Wolverine downvotes. Bring balance to the Force.
This is a good use of your life. No joking.
Just to clarify: he's joking.
But you should do it anyway.
are you joking about him joking? Or were you not joking?
(I'm joking)
It takes me five minutes everytime to figure out who everyone is talking about.
Well, in years past there's been a thread for damn near every game. And why not? All we got once the Spring game is done is softball threads and threads about the pure joy of summer in Ann Arbor: Dominicks. All good things, but a slow time of the season to be sure.
I agree with you though, seriously after the spring game there is nothing, so Tigers open threads are a nice way to visit the blog in what is otherwise a quiet time.
Just wait until the FIRE LEYLAND mouthbreathers show up. Then those threads suck.
If that is going to happen we need BRCE back, he was on damn near every tigers thread and said Leyland needed to be fired in pretty much every one.
Bummer, the douche post was deleted. Wanted to get in some neg action.
Anyway, Tigers swung themselves out of a lead-off single in the first inning. Sanchez now trying to work around a first inning baserunner.
Miggy and VMart still looking to get off the schnide. I'll bet $5 they both get an extra-base hit this game.
FYI, per BYB, the Tigers just acquired Evan Reed (RHP) from Miami. Sounds like a career minor-leaguer, but I suppose he adds some bullpen depth?
LINK.
Yeah, that whole organization is a head scratcher. How you go from "hey, let's build a really nice, really expensive stadium, then sign a bunch of high-profile free agents to fill it," to "TRADE ALL THE PLAYERS!!!!" in one year is beyond me. I'd be pissed if I was a Marlins fan/lived in Miami.
Would you take the over or the under for 35 wins for them this year?
Yeah, the Marlins didn't build that stadium. They strong-armed the city into building to for them.
Basically, the Marlin ownership group is a bunch of crooks.
Is Phil Coke getting the closer opp's?
I am no longer living in MI and am in a FBB league and damn it if I have no idea who is closing for the Tigers.
Officially, it's a closer by committee. I'd say Coke is probably at the top of that committee, but I don't think he'll get every opportunity.
Well, look at Monday's game. They are going to go by matchups. Benoit pitched 4 outs starting in the 8th and Coke took the last 2. I imagine that Coke will close more often than others, but if they see a matchup that they like, I don't think they'll hesitate to pull him for another closer.
He got yesterdays, though it is probably going to be by committee, so I wouldn't expect him to get all of the opps.
The best thing about the phone ap is that caved comments live on and dont go away. So once I noticed that Darth Wolverine was being his typical a-hole self I immediately went to my phone so I could see what he said.
To be fair however his comments weren't THAT bad - he was simply whining about the possibility of an open thread for each Tigers game. Not quite sure exactly why that warranted getting caved to be honest instead of just letting people downvote him but there you have it.
FYI not sure if someone posted in here already (tried to look but that takes too long), but the Tigers are the free MLB.tv game of the day. Therefore, you don't need a subscription to stream. The catch is you have to be outside of the Detroit TV market.
MLB At Bat app works really well on the iPhone, but I don't know if you still get the free game of the day like you do from a desktop. I have a subscription so I can't tell, but I am currently watching the game at work on the desktop and noticed it was the free game today.
VMart looks like he hasn't played in over a year. He'll come around eventually.
He was hitting just fine in spring training. 1.5 games doesn't really tell you much.
spring training doesn't tell you much either. Remember Sanchez got blown out by the Astros.
Condolences on the Bud Light man... if only it were Hopslam, then you wouldn't need 18, you would only need 4.
This guy?
Anibal bounced back with another K.
Do they have someone warming up to come in for Sanchez in the 6th?
And that 1-2-3 inning against the big wood of the Twins order shows why.
I still don't understand why the Tigers were supposedly thinking of sending him to Toledo at the end of spring training.
Villarreal gives up a run. 2-1. Minnesota has a guy on second with 2 outs.
Nothing is going to come easy this year when it comes down to our bullpen.
to the bottom of the 9th:
Tigers still lead 2-1, Coke just came in after Benoit walked the Twins' leadoff man in the 9th. Got the first man he faced to hit a harmless fly for out #1, still a man on 1st. Now a 1-2 count on Dozier...
already a blown save two games into the season..
