That's part of the game. We deserved a penalty against Costa Rica and didn't get it. Shit happens in soccer more than any other sport.

Huge performances from Gonzalez and Besler. That was Besler's first ever WC qualifier, and it was in the toughest environment, against the toughest team in the region. And he was almost flawless. Great effort from the whole team.

That was the sweetest nil-nil draw I've ever seen.

Sure, we got some breaks, but considering the squad we were fielding, this was pretty remarkable.  Beasley with a yellow 7 minutes in made me think we were absolutely doomed.

I've got to get one of those shirts that Klinsmann was wearing.  That was pretty killer.

Hot damn.  Say what you will about Jurgen Klinsmann so far but he's gone to Azteca twice and pulled out a win and a draw.

And Mexico has two home draws so far in the hexagonal.  You wonder if it will haunt them.

Gutsy, gutsy performance.

Heros:

Gonzalez, strong all night and had a great save stopping a cross.

Zusi with that amazing recovery run to stop a free header.

Guzan for keeping an inexperienced defense organized all night.

Dempsey for playing 180 minutes in rough conditions ... heavy snow then high altitude ... when coming back from injury and not being fully match fit.

Beasley for fighting through an ankle injury and playing out of position.

And Besler for surviving his first international game at the Azteca.

Gonzalez and Guzan have to be the heroes tonight. Gonzalez showed why he will be a regular starter in the near future, and Guzan showed that he has the ability to potentially challenge Tim Howard. I'm excited for the future of the USMNT, and Gonzalez is a reason why.

I'm not much on knowing the tactics of soccer but I know a stout defense when I see it, and Gonzalez and Besler acquitted themselves awfully well today.  Fine work in the middle, I don't recall too many threats from Mexico directly in front of the net.

Caught the last 20 mins of the game. Great result for the US! I was surprised at the lack of offensive execution on the part of Mexico - was nice to see us play in control, not be rattled and get the draw.
