I'm not sure I can subject myself to this tonight
(feel free to neg me, but it is what it is)

It's a hockey thread, everyone gets an upvote.

It was better that I was not subjected to that

Faceoff loss, hard move to the net and they score. 1-0 Irish.

We have to start looking at our options for next season. Dwyer isn't going to factor into that decision.

Rutledge has looked pretty good when he's stayed at home. Obviously it's a lot easier to make those saves, but I think he'll look a lot better when he has a better understanding of the when/where/why of getting out of the crease to make a play, and that's probably something that just needs to click with him. I haven't seen any NTDP highlights, but I wouldn't be shocked to see that he had enough speed/good enough defense to get away with that stuff before hitting high major NCAA. He also seems to lose concentration out of the net, for whatever reason.
Then again, I know I've been less down on the goaltending than a lot of people are this season, so maybe I'm just not very good at seeing that type of stuff.

It's the mental part of the game he has to adjust too. I wouldn't be surprised to see him and Racine the rest of the season.
Janecyk has shown what he can do, I don't think he will be in competition next year unless something goes wrong.

Yep in a two way tie for 6th in the conference as well. There is a lot of hockey left. I like the play of Brunner and Tatar. Tatar can be a good black ace down the stretch.

Not sure why Michigan and ND stopped playing in hoops but I doubt Brandon will be rushing to schedule them anytime soon with how the football series ended.

Copp has exceeded all expectations this season.

Another great play from Copp, Guptill scores. Back to the powerplay.

Neutral zone turnover they score, it's 3-1.

I don't care if they ice it every time ND puts pressure on, just don't turn it over. Notre Dame pushes tempo so well, any time you turn the puck over in the neutral zone or the defensive zone it's going in your net.

Di Giuseppe on the powerplay, it's 4-2.

In other college hockey news. Looks like UNO is having issues getting their outdoor hockey game in tonight...that is coolant coming out of the ice

Hopefully it's better for the Hockey City Classic next weekend in Chicago.

Sure looks like it.
At least a season like this will prepare Trouba for what it's like playing for the Jets once he decides to start getting paid for it.

It doesn't get any worse than this. Two quick goals, it's 6-2. Rutledge is out, Janecyk has already allowed a goal.

Disaster. Anyone holding out hope for winning the playoff is out of their mind. Keep in mind that 2009-10 lost close games and had guys like Hags and had a solid goaltender.

Something isn't right in the universe. We have three powerplay goals.

The first season sweep by Alaska, Tourney streak snapped, first losing season since the 80's, now a season sweep from Notre Dame. This is rock bottom.

but I just can't believe a team this talented is so bad. Goaltending is weak, but that's far from the only issue here

Lol look at this guy. Enjoy getting fucked sideways by BC, BU, Merrimack etc. in Hockey East!

So are we still making excuses for this team, or are we actually asking questions that need to be asked?
February 10th, 2013 at 8:03 AM ^
the question is, why we're recruiting goalies (and forwards) who end up bailing on us ess than 2 months before the puck drops their FR year?
I'm not sure if other schools are having recruites bail to the OHL. Either we aren't targeting the right guys or we weren't do something- IDK.

If you want the top prospects in hockey this is the price you pay. If a player is getting a lot of attention, there isn't much we can do about it.
Just imagine a Canadian Nick Saban in Windsor, London, Kitchener and every other city with a big CHL team. Multiple times Michigan has held commitments for two years only to see the player flip after draft day.

I know North Dakota and some other WCHA schools really struggle with this. If you want to be the best, you have to gamble on those guys. Sometimes you get a lot of them and have a great team and sometimes you get screwed which is part of the reason both Michigan and North Dakota are bad this year
