Jersey Fail
Add last night to the list of complaints against Adidas. Burke, Morgan, and Stauskas all tore their jerseys during the game, to the extent that Burke and Morgan actually needed replacements. I didn't actually notice Stauskas's jersey tear, but it's mentioned in the recap. My wife did notice that Morgan's replacement jersey was torn in the final minutes, so that's at least 4 torn jerseys in one game. Ridiculous.
Has something like this ever happened before? I know it was a physical game and all, but I never even saw how the jerseys got torn. Did anyone else? Or is Adidas trying out paper jerseys?

Yeah, but their founder, Kevin Plank, was a Maryland alum and talked them into trying to become the Oregon of the East. With most other teams they outfit (e.g. Auburn, Northwestern, Boston College) they've done a pretty good job.

Has anyone else been curious as to whether UA gets a B1G contract due to its Maryland ties? I think it makes sense and I love what they did with Northwestern's uniforms. Just darken the blue and lighten up the maize and I'm on board. If done correctly UA is to B1G as Nike is to Oregon. Thoughts?

To those saying "it happens, jerseys tear," I ask you this: when is the last time you can remember a jersey tearing? Okay, now when is the last time you saw it happen more than once in a game? What about FOUR times?
I'm not making any claims that this was beause Adidas is secretly the devil, but statistically speaking it almost certainly had something to do with the jerseys themselves and not the fact that Minnesota had really sharp fingernails.

Agreed. I am surprised at all the responses by people not surprised about the tearing. When have you ever seen any jerseys for any team tear like that? I've watched a decent amount of hoops like that and have never see it. Either the jerseys were sh-t or Minnesota were committing some serious holding fouls without it being called.

The degree to which Burke's jersey was torn was ridiculous. It was torn the length of his torso. I can't say that I saw the other tears, but Burke's was more a blow-out, than a tear. You're point is spot on; four tears in one game was unprecedented.

So I'm guessing I'm the only one who though this thread was going to be about Jersey Shore?

Sorry in advance, but I just felt like this thread needed this picture.

Given that we've never (in five years of Adidas making our uniforms) had this happen before, how do we know the mistake was on their end? Maybe our equipment managers washed them on the wrong cycle or something.

Maybe the Gophers keep their fingernails long like sissy girlymen.

but I never thought I would hear someone refer to this team as having particpated in a physical game of any kind. We are the complete opposite of physical right now.
EDIT: ok, maybe McGary is... but that's it.

I suppose this is as good a place as any to note that the yellow-number bowl-game fiasco doesn't seem to have been an accident. In the last couple of weeks:
--Cincinnati has unveiled charcoal grey numbers and names on black uniforms that were supposed to be a "monochromatic...nod to team unity" but are as unreadable as the Outback Bowl jerseys.
--Tennessee came out last week with their names in orange on orange shirts. I honestly don't know what the point of this one was except to announce loudly that ADIDAS DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE PURPOSE OF A UNIFORM.
I used to keep score for a local high school, and I'd be pissed. It can't be any fun for the on-court officials either. There's a reason the rules require the numbers to be in a clearly contrasting color, and common sense would seem to require the same for the names if you're going to bother to put them on at all.

at the stadium i have the pleasure of working with former michigan athletes, that are known as student ambassadors... a lot of these kids ran track at michigan and pretty much all of them complained about adidas, expecially the ones that were also there for nike... the major thing was how the uniforms were made and where certain seams and stiching ran on the guys uniforms... i was also told that adidas would only gave out one set of everything for them where nike pretty much gave them whatever they asked for... it wasn't until 2011 that adidas finally got their heads out of their asses and started handing out more stuff... i was also told about a rumor that was going around that michigan was talking to nike again, take it for what its worth i heard this back in october... but thats also the same time frame that adidas pissed off a lot of schools with closing of factories and when MSC sent that letter to adidas...
michigan isn't just going to drop adidas out of the blue, if they do it will be when the contract ends in 2015... you have to remember that michigan has the largest contract with adidas out of all of the schools that sponser....
if i had my choice it would be nike all the way...
