If Denard can't go, might get in for one "symbolic play"

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

Angelique at the Detroit News reports that on the Stoney and Bill radio show this morning they asked Hoke if he would consider putting Denard in for one last play at home if he can't start.

"That would be something I would think about, but to be honest with you," Hoke said. "The seniors and the guys and the people who are truly Michigan fans, I think they understand the significance he's had."

So you may not have seen Denard for the last time at Michigan Stadium. Maybe.

Get the logical of saving him.  OTOH, if he doesn't play this week, it will be 4 weeks since he's seen live action.  If the plan is for him to play QB against Ohio and he is ready to go this week I think you've got to get him some game action.  I suppose the real question is what define being ready this week or in your term close to 100%.

play a play at Michigan Stadium ever again, his final play would be the long conversion to Drew Dileo to set up the game winning FG against Sparty.

Nothing wrong with that memory.

I hope he is good to go and actually play, but they need to put him out there in a real game situation.  Even if it is just as a decoy on a pass play or Wildcat, he needs to be out there.

HOPEFULLY Michigan is winning by enough to where they break a run and run out of bounds at the one. Give Denard the ball out of the gun for one last rushing TD.

HOPEFULLY. Michigan can be up enough to do that. Not taking this lightly. I want the win more than anything as I'm positive that's what Denard wants first.

Don't be the guy that claims to be in "the know" without first establishing some credibility.  Especially when it comes to something as emotionally important as this.  We need to know this is true!  Our physical defense against the incoming dust storm and onion peel tornado is a paper tiger!

I will simply stay home Saturday since we have everything covered. I am glad you spoke to my neighbor Bill for the great information. I wish that guy would stay off my mother fucking lawn! Signed, Coach Hoke

Can someone PLEASE hijack the loudspeaker system Andy Dufresne style and play "I Love You Denard" at the end of the game?  You would be a legend and I would vote for you to get 1 billion permanent Mgopoints.

without all the adulation. The players who can order a pizza using their own names deserve just as much recognition. The underclassmen, recruits, and families deserve to know that their day will come, and when it does, it will truly be their day.

I would be happy for them to get him in for victory formation at the end of the game ... to just have the ball in his hands to finish off his Michigan career at the BIG HOUSE.

I heard a story about Denard today ... it was in his freshman year and after everyone on the team cleared out of the locker room he was always the last one to leave he would sit around and the student trainers would tell him that he could leave, he would then tell them no but he would rather stay and help them straighten up the locker room for he didn't help Michigan on the football field that day and at least this way he can say he helped Michigan in someway that day by helping the trainers straighten up the locker room and put things away.

What a very humble and sincere guy.

That is what I will miss about Denard, his true love for Michigan and everything he gave on the field and the fact that he was a true , honest and sincere MICHIGAN MAN.

You will be missed #16 when you leave this University. GO BLUE.

Funny, Upchurch and I were in the Ann Arbor Sports Memorabilia store today (the one on Liberty that's downstairs of Afternoon Delight) and talking to the proprietor about this same idea. I guess he read Angelique today too.

I guess I'm for it, but I'd much rather he play 4 quarters and give Iowa and the Michigan Stadium a performance to remember him by.

I more worry this might be a telling sign that Denard isn't ready to go. I hope we see him again... period. Not just a snap... but Denard being Denard.

Agree ... save him for Ohio & use him at slot or RB. This is huge for them not being able to game plan defense against us

If Mich is way up on Iowa - one play at QB & hand the ball off

If he can't play then I saw his last start at Michigan Stadium, since I could only make the MSU game this year. That doesn't make me happy, don't get me wrong. It actually feels weird :(

He may get some carries or snaps, but I don't think he is going to get to play.  I really, really hope I am wrong, but I also enjoy watching Devin play too.

Hoke isn't tipping his hand and we will find out soon enough.  It does seem odd that this would keep him out for a long time.
