OSU to Wear Uniformz for The Game (Again)
Ugh.
Ohio State removed the image and would not comment on whether it was, indeed, a picture of the jerseys that will be worn for ‘The Game’ this season, but a source close to the team told us it looked very similar.
“It will feature a helmet with an enlarged stripe and a scarlet jersey with standard block numbers outlined in a reflective silver,” the source said of this year’s alternate jerseys.
“It will have the standard gray pants, but with only a 3/4 stripe because of how they are designed. The stripes on the sleeves are enlarged as well, to match the helmet.”
There have also been rumors the helmet will have more of a chrome finish, much like the ones Oregon has been wearing, instead of the usual silver.

We figured this was coming right? And shall I assume there will be specially designed socks and sleeves as well?

These are much better than the 2010 version they had. Those were fucking terrible.

I'm surprised they don't save this totally awesome uniform for their bowl game.

They did.

You can make the poo shiny, yes, but it still smells and acts like poo. I'm looking at you, OSU

Every Michigan-Ohio game is historic.

Uniforms are the silliest things to argue about. Even before Adidas or Nike ever did Michigan uniforms they constantly changed. The general idea of the uni's stayed the same but a lot of the details have changed and will continue to change. As long as the helmets have wings and the colors are maize and blue , have a coke and a smile and stfu
November 14th, 2012 at 11:20 AM ^
My point is even the Every day jerseys change year to year. There is no "traditional" Michigan jersey besides the maize and blue and winged helmet. Even the colors of the uniforms constantly change.
“Change begets change. Nothing propagates so fast. If a man habituated to a narrow circle of cares and pleasures, out of which he seldom travels, step beyond it, though for never so brief a space, his departure from the monotonous scene on which he has been an actor of importance would seem to be the signal for instant confusion. The mine which Time has slowly dug beneath familiar objects is sprung in an instant; and what was rock before, becomes but sand and dust.”

November 14th, 2012 at 11:58 AM ^
They didn't "always" change from year to year. The trend of supah kewl uniformz is a recent thing, and it's freaking irritating.
Dickens was overrated ;)

If anything I'd be mad about the fact that while some of the Nike procombat uni's look pretty awesome
The best Under Armor could do was
And Adidas gave us this
oops wrong bumble bee I meant this!

God forbid anyone wear their actual uniforms for a big game. This is Nike's biggest down fall in my opinion. They just can't leave well enough, alone. News flash, people are tuning in to see the game not what uniform a team has on unless of course you are an Oregon fan.

I was thinking "apparel companies" since Under Armour isn't really a shoe company per se, but yes.
November 14th, 2012 at 7:40 AM ^
But numbers lie. And if you can see those viewers tuned in...even if they would have anyway - it makes you look better. If one recruit says something about how they liked them - it makes you look better.
It doesn't matter what we think...we're going to watch the game regardless. What they're trying to do is get viewers, buyers, etc. they didn't have access to before.
Fact: Adidas made more money off those ugly bumblebee uni's than they lost in viewershis, exposure, and sales. For every fan that said "those are gross, I'm not buying Adidas or watching the game." There had to be 4-5 people purchasing the new white, blue and maize monstrosity.

Those aren't gloves -- they're full hand tattoos. Nike has gone too far this time. What's next? Is it true that Oregon is going to play Oregon State naked and dipped in chrome?

Nov. 15, 2023 (Business Wire)--Nike, Inc. today announced that it has entered a strategic partnership with Fine Line Ink to provide tattoo-based branding solutions to Columbus-area football programs.
Nike's momentum of non-stop innovation will be in full show next Saturday as The Ohio State University unveils The Full Sleeve. The visually stunning and iconic scarlet and chrome arm-tattoos will replace the traditional sleeve of the Ohio State jersey.
“With The Full Sleeve we have created a game-changing piece of apparel technology that has already begun a growing industry buzz,” said Lucas Leftfoot, Nike Apparel’s Global Body Art Business Director.
NIKE, Inc., based near Beaverton, Oregon, is the world’s leading designer, marketer and distributor of authentic athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories for a wide variety of sports and fitness activities.
Fine Line Ink, based in Columbus, OH, is a leading distributor of body art, sports memorabilia and recreational pharmaceuticals.

Outside of the gloves I really can't see any difference.
I just hope NIke doesn't screw us with the refs this year like they did in 2010.

I was at THE GAME that year when they gave Dave Sanzenbacher the excessive celebration penalty for making an O with his hads.... Dumb call.
November 14th, 2012 at 3:39 PM ^
Do you mean two years ago when this happened to DANE Sanzenbacher?
November 14th, 2012 at 8:00 AM ^
/ I like them. The big stipe on top and chroming are obv progressive changes to their brand. But agree, they should have worn them against Wisc, not U-M.
November 14th, 2012 at 8:07 AM ^
Why is the model running through a cloud of gnats? They've been drawn in by the scent of all those coolers overflowing with fecal matter...

If a team wants to mess with their uniform regularly, fine, but they surrender any claim to tradition or history. If you want to align with the Oregons or Oklahoma State's of college football, who have neither of those things, have at it.

This statement says it all. There is absolutely nothing good or cool about Ohio.
November 14th, 2012 at 8:30 AM ^
I agree that I prefer my team to wear consistent uniforms throughout a season. But I know the reality of the situation is that Nike and the school make a lot of money from sales when you change the jersey up even a little bit. Also, the players seem to like it and recruits love it. However, I absolutely hate with a burning passion that we wear them against UofM. I want to see the winged helments clashing with the silver bullets full of Buckeye leaves earned throughout the season. Any other game, I'd be 100% behind these "alternative" "uniforms" But I guess that's part of the marketing plan, to rile up fans like us on blogs and message boards to get people talking about it more.

they dont get any gold pants to wear (or pawn) this year, I don't give a flying fig what they wear. The world is now a shameless money grab. Kind of sad, but thats how companies are able to pay thousands of kids in Thailand 15 cents an hour to create these monstrosities.
My lawn...get off
