(OT) The Look on Saban's Face
Not entirely OT w/ Bama being a UM opponent...
It was so sweet to see his face drop after that penalty. He was telling the ref how unfair the whole thing was. Don't worry, Nick Satan... live to play another day!
I just hope that this does not pave the way for ND to make it to the NCG; please let it be KSU & Oregon! An SEC-less NCG would be payback for last year's SEC vs. SEC!

With Notre Dame really not being too successful in the last half decade before this season, I honestly would rather see them play for a NC than any SEC team(especially Bama). Besides, if they're as overrated as we think they are, Oregon/K-State will shred them on a national stage. At least it'll be a better NCG than last year.

They have to be the surprise team of the year. For essentially their entire existence, they have been also-rans in the Big 12, with fans who think they're God's gift to college football. I thought that they would get steamrolled in the SEC their first few years. Hell, I didn't expect them to walk into Tuscaloossa and leave with most of their body parts... let alone a W. Not bad.

I am really shocked by this. There is no way a team that has cheated to amass a roster such as Bama's current one should lose to anyone who isn't in the "club" of those who think rules are for "little people." I used to think that Saban was one of "those" coaches who won't win a game with his playcalling and strategy, but won't lose one that way, either.
Now, though, I am going to have to change my mind on fifty percent of that opinion. I don't know what Saban was doing on that last Bama drive that made it into the red zone, and I doubt that he did, either. There is no excuse for Bama not scoring on their last drive after they got the ball inside the five.
Sadly, the way everyone votes, Bama will probably get one berth in the "championship" game if any two of the top three after today lose. I can't imagine KSU winning out, and I'm not sure ND has what it takes to beat what will be a fired-up USC team.
I really wouldn't mind seeing ND make it to play Oregon and get beaten by about 50, though.

and that they play Oregon.
But they won't because they'll lose on the road to USC.

Its early but Miss St. is up on LSU. Have to think Tex AM will get that second SEC spot in a BCS game. They also helped Louisiana Tech alot. If they win out there is a good chance they will get to the top 16 and be above either the B10 or Big East winner.

At what point along ND's season does our Schadenfreude hit it's zenith?
Loss at BC
Loss vs Wake Forest
Loss at USC
Loss vs. Oregon.
They all sound great to me.

I have a strange feeling that bama can still get in. I have a feeling it might be a situation like last year. I sure hope not. I don't want the SEC in the championship. notre dame needs to lose to USC and I will be happy!

My fear with ND is they have an "easy" path to the NC game - beat a somewhat down USC and they are golden (domers). Oregon/KSU have significantly more difficult paths.
KSU has to play Texas at home and then most likely Oklahoma in the B12 championship game.
Oregon has Stanford at home, at Oregon State, and then PAC12 championship game against either USC or UCLA.
The way this season has gone, I can just see KSU derping it up against OK. Oregon getting manballed by Stanford or Oregon St. Then watch FLA win bizarro world SEC championship game against Bama. Then FLA goes to the MNC against ND and lays an egg. Luck o the Irish returns them to glory...
I always feared Bama not making the championship game because if there is one team that would steamroll ND it would be them. Now they are on the outside looking in...
Being independent and not having a conference championship game is a major coup for ND this year in particular.

There is no Big12 title game. Florida is not in the SEC title game. And the way Florida played today I don't see them beating FSU. I think people may also be surprised how close Bama and ND are in the polls tomorrow.

Is there a Big 12 Championship game?

ND is not going to jump someone when they aren't playing and they are not playing in the last week of the regular season. Beating a 2-7 BC team, or a 5-5 WF teams or a 5 loss USC team is not going to make voters change their minds.
November 10th, 2012 at 8:00 PM ^
I also forgot to mention... ND playing a 2-7 Boston College team in primetime. Show them blowing out an inferior opponent. Couple that with Bama losing.... F'ing perfert storm I'm telling ya... I won't be surprised to see ND #2 in the BCS list tomorrow.
November 10th, 2012 at 8:09 PM ^
The fact they are playing a 2-7 team makes that basically impossible. plus most of those voters will probably still be in shock over Bama losing and won't be watching ND.

I got home from Ann Arbor and then went to a birthday party. So sadly, I didn't get to see the end of the Bama game. I would have looooooooved to see the expression on Saban's face.

Saban also stole Hoke's terminology and credited Texas A&M for playing a "Tremendous" ball game.
November 10th, 2012 at 11:31 PM ^
They are terrible. They've been giving up 20 points to just about anyone who shows up this year
November 10th, 2012 at 11:35 PM ^
Althought I still don't know why Georgia would be #5
November 11th, 2012 at 12:07 AM ^
1. ND, Oregon, and KSU win out. ND gets left out of the MNCG. Oregon doesn't end up in the Rose Bowl to embarrass the Big TENNNNN.
2. ND plays an angry Alabama team in a BCS bowl and gets destroyed (is this matchup possible?).
I'd root for that.

That look was almost the look on my face when it appeared Alabama might find a way to pull off that game. But the football gods were on our side this weekend.
