OT: "Tall Blonde Girl" Music Video
October 16th, 2012 at 10:21 AM ^
It's going to take a lot more than a "tall blonde girl" for one of his kids to become an athlete. I would suggest creeping at the next Olympic dorms, or becoming a WNBA groupie. And hope the kid gets all of mom's genes.

My Dad was drafted in the NFL, both my brother & I played Division 1 lacrosse, and my sister plays Division 1 field hockey.

As evidenced by the video and this comment, you have really got to get over yourself. At least a little. This seeming more and more like something out of East Lansing or Columbus than an Ann Arbor product.

So people can insult him, but he can't offer a counterpoint without being full of himself? That just doesn't make sense. I get that "public figures" and people who put themselves out there have to be ready for criticism, but M-Wolverine basically insulted Pat Stansik and all Stansik did was say "Actually, my family and I do have a history of athletic success, and here's a list"...but Stansik's the one who has to get over himself?
People insult each other, and people defend themselves. It's a natural back and forth discussion. Let it go.
October 18th, 2012 at 9:56 AM ^
What? Your self-contraduction is making my head hurt. He made a counterpoint to a cricicism, and I criticized his counterpoint. Which you criticized stating that I should not have criticized. YOu contradict your own criticism. Think a little bit please. If its so natural to let it go back and forth, why are you telling me to stop my own criticism? You are as contradictory as you always have been.
My point was that he is coming off more douchy than one likes his own fanbase to come off. Yes, one who has a pedigree comes off as douchy when he feels the need to front it when he is called out for being pompous - to post a video of yourself with your shirt off, talking about how you have to turn town certain women and need a tall blond so you can produce athlete kids, and then offering a family pedigree of athletes when criticized for being pompous, only comes off as douchy. (Which, on a side note, flies in the face of his 'I love you Denard' video, because Denard, who he loves for his athleticism, is not tall). That was my criticism. And then, of course, in your mindless fashion, you criticize me for criticizing.

I think you (and a few other readers) are taking his video a little more seriously than you should...and more seriously than Stansik is himself. I did not get the feeling that he was really trying to flaunt his shirtless body or that he feels like he has to beat away short non-blond girls with a stick.
It's a comedy video, and he's a performer. Performers generally want to be, like, noticed for their performances.
Do you dislike Andy Samberg, too, and think he's full of himself? After all, he genuinely thinks his "Dick in a Box" is a great gift for any woman, right? I mean, he made a video of himself singing about that, so it's clearly a representation of his true self.

It's OT season. It's MSU-Michigan week, and not only do we have to compete with the Tigers for focus and attention and coverage, but now this-which has little to do with Michigan sports-keeps getting bumped.
Pat thinks he's funny. His friends clearly have fun making these videos. But right now, this shouldn't be getting much more pub on this board.
October 18th, 2012 at 10:48 AM ^
That's fine.
Feel free to post these same thoughts on the posts about the Tigers, Honey Badger, crazy names in college football, the NHL lockout...
October 18th, 2012 at 11:01 AM ^
Actually, I think Andy Samberg does genuinely think that. Other than that, I totally agree with you.
EDIT - was supposed to be in response to Magnus other post, FAIL

Because long explanation just getting too off topic and personal.
Let's just leave it at the whole process of posting it here, now, is ego driven.
October 18th, 2012 at 2:53 PM ^
So you're saying you want that athletic girl to make up for the genes skipping you.
October 18th, 2012 at 3:27 PM ^
No, I'm saying that I want "that athletic girl" because that is my type.
October 18th, 2012 at 3:35 PM ^
But don't the lyrics say "because it'd be nice if my kids could play sports"? (paraphrasing)
No objecting to liking tall blonde girls, or whatever the case may be. Just pointing out that if it's because you want your kids to be athletic, instead of say, smart, or something, it's going to come off as shallow. And pointing out if that's the case, you might want to look elsewhere, because the majority of female athletes aren't tall blonde girls. So it's silly, but not in a funny way, so it doesn't really work in either sense.
October 19th, 2012 at 5:41 AM ^
It's a comedy bit. Who cares if it comes across as "shallow"? You're acting as if comedies are supposed to have some deep, moral message...
October 18th, 2012 at 3:55 PM ^
I received a lot of nurturing, positive, flattering messages about my athletic talent when I was a wee lad, considering that was all I did for 20 years and I didn't start making videos until my junior year of college. My parents were actually really upset with me when I decided to transfer to Michigan to study film because they wanted me to stay at my old school and keep playing lacrosse.
I understand that all of my videos don't appeal to everyone, and hopefully there's at least one out there that you like. If not, I'll keep trying.
October 15th, 2012 at 10:33 PM ^
Since, I married a tall blonde girl with long blond hair, and am father to the same. Nothing like tall blonde girls, imhe.
October 16th, 2012 at 1:07 PM ^
Keep both of them away from Pat. He's apparently in heat.
October 16th, 2012 at 12:23 AM ^
who made that video....it sucked.
October 16th, 2012 at 12:56 AM ^
Impressed by the production value but beyond that nothing to write home about.

has a really nice voice.
October 18th, 2012 at 9:12 AM ^
He very well might, but I think there was some Auto-Tune involved...
October 16th, 2012 at 10:35 AM ^
Patty Stans, I love your work. I can't tell you how many times I've listened to I Love You Denard & I'm 24. Thanks for sharing & creating & keep up the good work.

I'm not sure what is worse, that video (e.g., the aweful derivitive rapping, the egotistic 'I'm taller and better than you are' underlying theme, the weird, out of place cuts to some professor) or the fact that almost every thread on this board seems to devolve into a self-generating and self-seving discussion of whether the thread is worthy of being an almighty MGoBlog thread. It's those mindless and endless discussions that make a thread cross the tipping piont from marginally worthy to absolutely not worthy.
October 18th, 2012 at 1:53 AM ^
Well, hey, I'm in this video.
October 18th, 2012 at 8:23 AM ^
Well, I guess we found the one tall blond girl who reads MGoBlog.
October 18th, 2012 at 9:20 AM ^
I think anyone who created the I Love You Denard® video should automatically get one "get out of MGoBlog jail free card".
I'd say this video is a misdemeanor as worst.
October 18th, 2012 at 9:20 AM ^
I'm somewhat indifferent to the videos themselves, but I do have to say that they make me miss Ann Arbor.
October 18th, 2012 at 10:53 AM ^
...I think this isn't Pat's best effort. Mostly because the video makes only a half hearted effort at making fun of the concept of finding a mate solely for the purpose of producing athletic offspring. Most people who view the video probably think Pat or Pat's performance alter ego really do think that's a good approach to take. So the comedic value is lessened as a result.
Pat is clearly a "Friend of MGoBlog" because of the content he's produced that has been featured by Brian and promotes/creates/perpetuates MGoMemes even to the point of reaching a national broadcast audience. So I think a little deference is due to him when he posts here even if the subject matter is not clearly MGo-related.
That his work is all produced in A2 and features U-M students, (former) student athletes and A2 locations is enough for me to suggest that his work is on topic.

I thought that's what I said?
October 18th, 2012 at 11:01 AM ^
Which Pat Stansik production mentioned/featured Ace Anbender? I don't remember seeing that one...
October 18th, 2012 at 11:07 AM ^
I thought he was in the I love you Denard one? Maybe I'm wrong though
October 18th, 2012 at 11:14 AM ^
...correct.
Blondes are very hot. I've always been turned on by them. I recently read a review on the dating site benaughty.com and decided to register there to find a blonde. I advise you to try to register and read the reviews of site users. I am sure that you will also be able to find the person you are looking for.
