Helmet numbers are the bright yellow now, and looks like the grey facemasks are here to stay.
Is not a safe assumption.
As was discussed here:
"The gray facemasks were the practice set all year, and the helmets won't be reconditioned until after spring practice anyway, so they'll be using whatever is on hand. Which means gray facemasks and numbers. "

Point taken.
Did the practice helmets always have hi-liter colored numbers on them? I thought the old helmets had the oldschool maize numbers. The sugar bowl helmets definitely had the oldschool maize, so if these are the same (which they might be, since they have the BCS stickers), then the numbers at least have definitely been redone since then.
a couple snaps weren't right on the mark. Definetly something to keep an eye on.
With a new center. Forgive me if I'm not yet worried.
I'm not an expert, but denards throwing motion has REALLY improved. His throw at 0:44 showed patience, good timing, and an accurate throw down the middle of the field into double coverage. I know it's only one throw, but if he starts making plays like that, I can't wait to see this offense in action.
Not to be a downer or anything.
Not enough data, so I make big.
One data point ... let's extrapolate!
- We're doomed! or ...
- 12-0, baby!
My work is done.
And that turned out to be an 11-2 season that ended by winning the Sugar Bowl so I'm ok with it.
First practice video.......... and we have a discussion about helmet stickers? Let's talk about the tight spirals Denard was actually throwing or something pertinent to performance come September 1st.
Watched the whole vid with glee. What is it about that winged helmet that makes me smile and makes everything seem alright with the world?
also the colors are pretty cool....

you are quite astute
* With the weather, it really _will_ be Spring practice for at least a few days.
* I agree with the above poster that Denard's throws looked pretty good.
* Is it just me, or is Gardner still shot-putting the ball a little bit? I saw only a single throw.
On an underneath route like that, a little shotput-ish motion isn't too bad. the jury remains out until we see a full throw.
I thought that video would serve as a welcome relief from the months of not seeing any live football. I was wrong. Like a smoker lighting his first cigarette in a long time, it did nothing but awaken the inner beast who demands MOAR FOOTBALL.
Damn you, MGoBlue.com. Damn you.
Mmm... Cigarettes...
Wait, what was your point?
WOOD.
Spring football signals the return of Doug Karsch height jokes.
Awesome...took only 12 seconds for us to get a shot of Hoke working on his Spring pointing.
Here is how old and out of touch I am (I'm 38, married, 2 kids, (I drive a DODGE STRATUS)).
This morning as I usually do on Saturdays at about 7am I'm out for a run and I'm passing through the UM practice field area. The sun is just coming up and there is a fine mist coming off the railroad tracks and coming across the lacrosse field. Of course I start thinking about the first football practice and wondering how it will go. As I head north on State St. I notice lots of people out and about and some house parties. "Huh" I think, "they must be stoked for the first practice cause I only see this on game days."
It wasn't till I got to Ashley's I realized it was St. Patrick's day. A pointless holiday if you aren't Irish, an alcoholic, or if you are burdened by the twin drudgeries of work and family.
St. Patrick's day is fun but it's just an excuse to get drunk. Just like Cinco De Mayo.
you sir, should be a poet or a novelist. The beginning of that middle paragraph sounds like it should be in an English novel.
Upon re-reading my eloquence I realized the lacrosse field is NOT next to the tracks but rather the field hockey field. Field hockey, lacrosse.....I'm an old man and can't tell the difference....
It's amazing on some folks on here can take a video that last 2.24 of 1st spring practice and make judgment calls-Hilarious some of you. Let them get through the spring and pads and start hitting and then maybe some assumptions can be made. But you know what happens when you assume! Chill Out folks
I've been on here for awhile just not posted-It's apparent there are some non-athletes that post on here regularly that have no clue but have high opinions.
What would spring ball on mgoblog be like without exaggerated overconfidence and insecurity?

My point was that you must be new here if this surprises you. This literally happens every year during spring.
the fact that those people don't need a whole 2:24 to reach those conclusions!
I guess it takes all kinds.

But U first. It's worth it.
I imagine this is what a shot of heroin feels like..but better

This is like the last beer in the refrigerator. One and done? No way, I want more!
Go Blue!
My juices is flowing just watching this video!!
