RR on WTKA this morning: JT Turner still not in

I'd like to believe the frustration in his voice stems from the concept that he thought all the Clearinghouse chores were done with. If he was pissed in a "Dammit, I thought I sorted this out, now I've got to do more paperwork before Turner and Witty can start practicing" sort of way rather than "Oh shit, I've just lost my cornerback of the future," that would obviously be preferable. I didn't hear the interview, though, so I couldn't tell you which one I thought it sounded like.

I was thinking about it but he wouldn't have to deal with it. He's got people to do this kind of stuff for him. It would probably be just a very minor annoyance. Why can't he just tell us that they probably have or haven't qualified.

I'm not really familiar with any of this. What does this mean? What is the worst possible outcome?
August 6th, 2009 at 10:11 AM ^
He could always come next year as a JUCO.

but it means that they go home, as a worst case scenario. Just see Marcus Witherspoon, from last year who had to go back to Jersey and enroll at Rutgers (I'm still not sure why he could do that though).
Alternatively, they could be off the team, but still at Michigan (like Chambers was 2 years ago).

Neither is able to enroll in school. They go to prep school or JUCO and their letter of intent is voided meaning they are free to go wherever they want as soon as their issues are cleared up. UM would have to re-recruit these guys all year.
August 6th, 2009 at 10:16 AM ^
I don't think they'd go anywhere else unless they could play right away, which I don't think can happen.

at JUCO. And then in 2010 enroll in a different D-1 school. I'm not saying it's likely but he asked about the worst case scenario and that's pretty much it, at least from a UM perspective.

So because they may not have qualified, they have both magically changed their minds about M and have to be 're-recruited'? Wasn't Whitty a package deal with Denard who's only other 'major' offer was Kansas State?
Take a chill pill dude, the sky is not falling.
You don't have to constantly think 'absolutely worst possible scenario'.
August 6th, 2009 at 11:38 AM ^
so I gave it. I didn't say it was going to happen or even likely to happen just that it is a possibility. So I don't need to "take a chill pill."
Also if you think that JT Turner on the open market won't receive any interest from another school, you're crazy. The guy was a top 50 CB/S, those don't grow on trees. If he hits the open market, UM will absolutely have to fight for him. I ultimately believe that he would be back in the fold but it won't be that easy.

Man, this sucks. Had to wake up to bad news.

Here is the interview.

Anyone else notice that Boren is one of the players in the banner at the WTKA website?
August 6th, 2009 at 10:38 AM ^
Over at Scout has been talking about this (like all of us have) and has said Turner would go the Prep School route. Beaver has said repeatedly that Turner will end up at Michigan no matter what it takes. He's Blue through and though, says King Beaver.
August 6th, 2009 at 10:47 AM ^
Rodriguez sounded confident that the Turner issue won't amount to anything.
August 6th, 2009 at 11:16 AM ^
I just listened to it. He didn't sound too concerned. People here made it sound worse than it did.
