Terrible thing to happen to a kid, much less a Senior. Quick recovery Draymond.

I hate the Spartan Draymond, but the person Draymond seems pretty solid. Nevertheless, never want to see this happen to anyone

I never want to see anyone injured. Excuses or not. We've already beat them with him in the lineup three straight times. Obviously once with this current roster.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:51 PM ^
Good? You're not one of us.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:15 PM ^
Not any more, he isn't.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:52 PM ^
you may want to at least raise up your points level so it is not so blatantly obvious.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:59 PM ^
He actually had like 90 points less than 2 hours ago, I kid you not. Fastest I've ever seen points evaporate.

I will say that I'm not going to shed too many tears for the RCMB right now after their plan to cyberstalk our players.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:50 PM ^
Yeah I heard on the radio. Wasn't sure how bad it was. I hope he can play Sunday. Never want to see a guy get hurt.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:57 PM ^
It was pretty bad. There was probably around 14 minutes left in the 2nd half and he took a step back to keep with his man when his knee kind of locked and then he went down. There wasn't any contact which makes you worry a bit more about it. He couldn't put any weight on it and he was attempting to put weight on it the remainder of the game (they kept panning to him on the bench) and he could never do it.

Feel bad for Green - hopefully not a signficant injury. He'll only have a senior season once, and you hate to see it ended prematurely because of injury.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
"He'll only have a senior season once"
Robbie Hummell begs to differ.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:02 PM ^
Wasnt Hummel playing for Purdue in Big Dog's last year????
January 31st, 2012 at 9:55 PM ^
"I am no doctor but it looked like and LCL injury."
Doesn't look like an LCL injury in my opinion. Method of injury doesn't really fit. Even if it was though, probably not a full tear and wouldn't cost him his season by any means.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
I actually love the kid as a player. Hopefully its not as bad as it seems.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:09 PM ^
He is great to watch. Can't stand the team, enjoy the player.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:15 AM ^
minus those two, don't mind the team too much.

I have tremendous respect for Draymond. Do I feel bad for him? Yes I do. Do I feel bad for Tom Izzo and the Spartan hoops team? Not one bit.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:44 PM ^
i see wydt.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:06 PM ^
Unlike the Izzone, I don't wish injuries on anybody. If Green is out for a while or the rest of the season, that's obviously a serious blow for Sparty. I don't feel sorry for them but I feel sorry for him. Hopefully he'll be alright.
As for our game at Breslin, if Green is out, that's still a dangerous game because we play like crap on the road. Iowa, the crapiest of crap teams destroyed us at their place. Green or no Green, that's going to be a tough game.
However, if by some chance we DO win that game, I could care less if Spartan nation starts with the excuses of not having Green so the game doesn't count, yadda, yadda, yadda. After all those years of going through Brian Ellerbe and partly Tommy Amaker, just the fact that we're at the point now where MSU basketball fans are saying, "We would have beaten you if ____________." that's pretty cool.
If Spartan fans can pound their chests over beating 3 of the worst Michigan football teams in school history, I don't have to feel ashamed in beating a MSU basketball squad without Green. Plain and simple.
But again, that's a big if. There are no guarantees playing on the road.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:59 PM ^
He twisted it. Looked painful when it happened.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:50 PM ^
If Day-day is out, who probably pick up his minutes?
January 31st, 2012 at 11:21 PM ^
We really play positions by committee. He didn't play most of the game tonight so you saw more of a combination of Nix, Payne, Gauna, Dawson in there filling up the C and PF positions. Since we last played UM last, Dawson has stepped up his game big time (both against Purdue and tonight). Even though he starts at 3, he can also play the 4. I would expect him to be in the game a bit more if Green can't go.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:02 PM ^
there you have it folks, spartys excuse for losing to us on sunday
January 31st, 2012 at 10:09 PM ^
for the Robbie Hummel taunting......
January 31st, 2012 at 10:19 PM ^
That's exactly why the only thing we should be saying is "That sucks, I hope he gets better soon."
January 31st, 2012 at 11:27 PM ^
I hope he does get better and only misses one game.
Hate to see any kid get injured. Get well Draymond.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:13 AM ^
We shouldn't be assuming we'll win at the Breslin, but we can still be honest about Green's unlucky misfortune . . .
. . . but also about the way in which he conducted (or will conduct) himself to the media while healthy . . . and now injured.
Basically, I don't think we have to unload positive vibes on Green if it's not genuine.
Call a spade a spade. Draymond Green was a solid player with a big mouth on a good team with a coach with a big mouth.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:35 PM ^
I don't think Green said anything out of line to the media. Yeah, he guaranteed victory. What's wrong with that? That just added a little spice to the rematch.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:11 PM ^
I'd like us to beat State at their best, especially at the Breslin. But man, even with Green in there tonight that game was painful to watch. Strug-a-ling would be an understatement for both teams, even by Joe Namath's standards.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:13 PM ^
It's unfortunate to see a college career end that way, especially for someone who genuinely cares about college ball rather than seeing it as a necessary evil on the way to getting paid.
But only a few degrees less unfortunate is that we won't have the pleasure of watching a cocky hater like Green walk off the Breslin floor disappointed yet again. I'd rather see him disappointed by losing than by not even getting to play.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:30 PM ^
Do we know it's a season-ending injury? I just saw the replay of him struggling off the court and it certainly looked bad, but young adult bodies can be surprisingly resilient.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:21 PM ^
If a knee and the letters "CL" are involved like people are saying, I usually assume the rehab is measured in months instead of weeks.

January 31st, 2012 at 10:23 PM ^
As much as he'd like to play in his last Michigan game, State has longer-term goals, and Izzo isn't an idiot. If he's hobbling like Mateen, it'd be smarter to sit him for a while and let it heal.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:19 PM ^
It was kind of strange seeing Green lay on the floor in pain and how long it took someone from the Spartan bench to go over and assist him, then it was just one assistant attending Green, who then hopped of on one leg.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:38 PM ^
It was really bizzare. It was almost like they were in denial of how serious the situation was.
They just showed him using crutches to get to the bus or wherever he was going, with just his parents and I felt really bad for him and his family. Puts things in perspective. Speedy recovery Mr. Green.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:22 PM ^
Get well soon Draymond. You've been a respectful rival.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:03 AM ^
Green is as talkative and whiney as Izzo. Especially about his three losses to Michigan.
January 31st, 2012 at 10:24 PM ^
I always want the best team playing against us. It eliminates excuses when we win as is a true indicator of how good our team is.
January 31st, 2012 at 11:32 PM ^
Not with Sparty it doesn't. They will never be convinced we have a better basketball team, not even if we win 12 in a row, so they will always be the fanbase of 1,000 excuses. If it's not missing Green, it'll be the refs, God, bad luck, the refs, distractions, fatigue, the refs, the announcers, anything at all to avoid admitting we even have a good basketball team, let alone a better one.

February 1st, 2012 at 12:45 AM ^
True, there's absolutely a little reversal of fortune thing going on, but I think there are two major differences:
- we didn't try and claim we still had a better team in years like 2008
- we can see the irony when Hollis and Green talk about how they've been better for longer in basketball
January 31st, 2012 at 10:45 PM ^
This is why we're Michigan and they aren't. They cheered the Denard injury earlier in the year.
February 1st, 2012 at 8:50 AM ^
Has been a great player and leader for them... If he cannot play it is a big blow. As a fan of collegiate
sports I don't wish injury on any of these kids. Blue or Green...

On an unrelated note, there is some really delicious spartyfreude flowing out there...
For those of you who enjoy that kind of thing, I give you...
http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/93/tOfficial-Spartans-vs-Illinoise-thread-7392825/61
and a blast from the past
With that said, I hope Green plays on Sunday. 4 in a row would be a little empty without watching his spirit break before my eyes as he finished his career getting swept by Michigan.
Watching Lucas and Summers walk off the court was pretty sweet. I could do with more of that.
