No I didn't but the people who think that urban was the best hire ever are idiots.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:07 PM ^
Um...aren't you the one saying he was the best hire ever? Freudian slip, much?
December 18th, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
And the glee some us would have taken to see them suffer a little. But even if it had happened, it wasn't going to last long. Even Cooper could load them up with talent. Hoping they suck do we can succeed is a loser mentality. We need to get better. We're not there yet, but I like where we're heading.

People used to actually complain that OSU wasn't a big enough game because we were dominating them. Then they turned it around. We're due for a period of what made the rivalry great; an all out ten year war. The key is, as always, win your home games, then steal one on the road now and then. And that's how you win a REAL rivalry.
December 18th, 2011 at 10:26 PM ^
Meyer is like Weiss. He is a good recruiter and can use his scheme to get advantages, but is not a good coach. Hoke and company will develop the talent we bring in and that is more important.
December 19th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
He's won 2 national titles and went undefeated at Utah and took a 2 win Bowling Green team from 2 wins to 9 wins in consecutive seasons,
Guy can freaking coach. Hoke is in for a battle, but I think he understands the battle he's in.
December 18th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
double post, sorry. Don't know how that happened, as I pressed the button once.
December 18th, 2011 at 6:42 PM ^
It is a litte scary Urban can come in and within a few weeks bring their class right up to ours. I wouldnt be surprised if they land a few more big time prospects.
December 18th, 2011 at 6:46 PM ^
How is it scary? Seriouly!? Everybody except Spence and Schutt that has either committed or is talked about comitting has long had Ohio at the top of their lists. The only thing keeping them from committing is that Ohio didn't have a direction without a permenent head coach. Meyer's name deffinatly helps, but as long as a competent head coach was named, Ohio was going to reel in half the people that had committed already anyway. Do you realize how amazing a class they would have if Tressel had never left?
December 18th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
Broski, hes been there for like 3 weeks and already has the best DL class. I thought they wouldnt have agood class this year since the sanctions and all that stuff. He already has 5 committments, yes I could Adolphus washington because there was some shady shit with that, he already knew urban was the coach. And he got dunn to recommit.
December 18th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
Come to speak of it, I am really scared of Urban, he is getting all the recruits, Michigan should stop playing football and just give in to Urban Meyer. Our OL is nothing compared to these guys. With the NCAA coming down, and the punishment being nothing, they are going to get more players. I am really scared. What should we do?
December 18th, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
Does my sarcasm detector need a fine tuning?
December 18th, 2011 at 6:59 PM ^
Come on Darth. Let's call it a day and tell Morris and Dymonte to go to OSU. We will never get anyone else. Urban wins, we will rename the University of Michigan, the University of Urban Meyer. Hoke, 10-2, but he cant beat Meyer. Have they played yet, doesnt matter, we already lost.
Hows the detector working now.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
Word. Thanks for clarifying.
December 18th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
Kalis will neutralize Spence.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:11 PM ^
December 18th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
I hope we have a hello Garnett soon; Kalis, Garnett vs Noah washington will be fun.
December 18th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
Anyone expecting OSU NOT to have a good recruiting class year in and year out are fooling themselves. Meyer is doing it faster than expected. But that said, it should not effect our success, as long as we do things the right way.
Spence is a good get for OSU. Should be fun to see our OL class go against their DL class for the next four years.
December 18th, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
You really have to hand to it OSU. Assuming the NCAA doesn't nuke them, they've played their cards perfectly. They set everything up perfectly so Urban Meyer could ride in on a white horse, proclaim what was done is done, and that a glorious future awaits all those who ride with them. The shitty year, the scandals, all of it doesn't matter because Meyer is so new and shiny.
Masterfully done.
December 18th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
As long as we get Garnett/Diamond, I'm not worried.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
All the "scared post's" are troll's. Ohio has always recruits well. And urb will probably retire twice before the kid is a senior.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:08 PM ^
Michigan can win in a state with lower high school football talent. Examples: Oklahoma has literally no football talent, but OU wins, Nebraska was unstoppable under Tom Osborne with a talentless state
Michigan has more HS talent than those two states put together.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
Oklahoma and Nebraska both recruit Texas well though. We have that with Ohio. We just can't lose it
December 18th, 2011 at 7:12 PM ^
Its all about coaching anyways, some 3 stars play like 5 star and some 5 stars fail, I'll take our 4 stars and add Mattison anyday.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:21 PM ^
While I tend to think the NCAA is going to let Ohio skate, WE DON'T KNOW YET. What happens if Ohio is slammed? If they have a two or three year bowl ban? If they lose 4 - 5 schollies a year over the next 2 - 3 years? Urban may already know (which is wrong in itself.) But he has to portray a strong sense of confidence (everything is fine, we'll all be fine, no problem here, move along, everything's under control.)
I'll assume that Ohio has no significant sanctions. But I also would be ecstatic if they irritate the NCAA by Meyer's confidence (nothing's happening,) and get more of a hammer brought down. This would automatically undercut Meyer's integrity, and it may cause a couple of guys to really think about whether or not they can trust him. Shoot, it is even possible, if they take enough schollies away that they're crippled, or can't honor offers made.
We weren't in it for Spence anyway, and I have every confidence in what Michigan can do. Not everyone wants to go to the evil empire.
December 18th, 2011 at 11:46 PM ^
Everyone seems to figure the NCAA is going to let Ohio skate but, if you look at it rationally, it's hard to say if that's really going to happen. Sure, Urban Meyer took his "dream job" so he could spend more time away from his family but is that necessarily an indicator that the NCAA is not going to take any action? Hard to say. Certainly, there is some connection between Gee/Smith and the NCAA but this didn't stop the various findings, didn't keep Tressel from being hung out and has still kept this situation ongoing for months. If the NCAA was going to let them off it would have been far better to have done so a month ago as the media stench of it would have washed off over the holidays and through the bowl season. Of course, there is also USC and the Pac 10 lobby to deal with as well. In enforcing the USC sanctions and bowl ban the NCAA has cost all members of the PAC 10 a pile of money (given USC's bowl profile) and it's difficult to see there not being serious repurcussions for the NCAA from those members should Ohio skate. I think there is a lot of 'sky is falling' sort of thinking about Ohio and a lack of sanctions but until I see it happen I don't think it's so likely. Too much at stake to just let them walk.
December 18th, 2011 at 11:48 PM ^
Ohio seems to know. They have told all of these recruits that nothing else is coming and they have nothing to worry about. They know something nobody else does. The NCAA is broken and it's time for schools to start leaving it and starting over in a system that is free of favoritism.
December 18th, 2011 at 11:58 PM ^
IIRC Ohio also knew that there was no issue last December when their players were reinstated, they knew that there was no systemic issue, they knew there was no way Tressel would be fired "I hope the head coach doesn't fire me", they knew that their hearings would be concluded in August and they knew that boosters like Bobby Degeronimo were under control as late as this fall? Right?
I'm not putting anything on Ohio except that they don't seem to know.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:22 PM ^
December 18th, 2011 at 7:28 PM ^
at what point do we start worrying?
December 18th, 2011 at 7:57 PM ^
December 18th, 2011 at 8:59 PM ^
you think? Ohio will alway's recruit's well. The problem was OUR recruiting classes not ohio's.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:36 PM ^
Adolphus Washington must have told Noah how with the help of the academic support staff you can pass while giving minimal effort.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:40 PM ^
Josh Garnett is an even more important recruit now. We will need a truly elite O-Line to do battle with this D-Line.
December 18th, 2011 at 7:48 PM ^
I would say Garnett was always important in this recruiting class. No matter who OSU gets, you want the best.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:56 PM ^
have the best oline class in the country right?
December 18th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
Good for OSU. Their class is pretty much par for the course for them. Where exactly are Washington, Pittman, and Spence going to play along the D-line? Everything I've read about all of them has them projected to only WDE. Am I missing something? That position is now stacked for them, but are any of those guys likely to move inside? You can only put one WDE on the field at a time.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
to offer consolations for two coaching staffs to start Urban Liar Criers tenure affording him a fair recruiting field since the NCAA has come down so hard on and has set TUO$ so far back with sanctions?!
December 18th, 2011 at 11:55 PM ^
Negged for the Urban Liar Criers TUO$ trifecta.
Srsly brah.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:05 PM ^
Cooper had a lot of great recruits too.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
End thread.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:11 PM ^
Who cares. We got Hoke and THIS IS MICHIGAN FOR GODSAKES!! Ohio will get good players and Meyer will win games but Hoke will dominate him year in and year out when it matters on the field on the last saturday in november. We got this.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
didn't we get the same help from the NCAA when richrod was hired?
December 18th, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
Did Lloyd stay on when he was hired?
December 19th, 2011 at 12:54 AM ^
Yes Lloyd coached the team in to the Captial One Bowl against Florida, when RichRod was hired.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
for a couple years, but I don't mind this. Concentrate the elite talent and have the huge battle for middle earth every year.
I thought they were limited in schollies this year though? I thought they could only take 16-17
December 18th, 2011 at 8:38 PM ^
It's more embarrassing for OSU that they've offered basically all of our recruits and none of them have flipped.
December 18th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
Why are people "scared"? OSU gets great recruits every year and they always will. Even if there are USC level sanctionsl they will still get great recruits. USC has amassed top ten classes over the last couple years and it's not as if OSU can't do the same. We're amassing as much talent along the O-line as they have along the D-line. It's going to make for competitive games, not domination from either side.
December 18th, 2011 at 9:10 PM ^
I agree completely, but what I think drives people crazy is the lack of karmic justice for OSU. That is a school with a checkered history that seemingly gets by with minimal punishments for transgressions that don't feel fundamentally different than the ones that lead to severe sanctions at other places. I'm sure OSU will get a scholarship hit and maybe a couple years probation, but considering how much happened behind the scenes it doesn't seem fair.
December 19th, 2011 at 8:03 AM ^
The universe is unfair.
