Just how close we came. A reversal of perspective.
However, many people look at our loss in EL as the reason that we are not all getting drunk in an Indianapolis parking lot right now. I understand that beating Sparty would have taken care of this outright, but I challenge my fellow MGobloggers to look at this from a different perspective.
In one season, Hoke and Co. has entered stage left and not only done these great things but came so so close to getting us to Indy.
Consider this friends, state had 1 loss in Big play, and we had 2. One of our losses, Iowa, was clearly one f*cked up escapade, in which we played bad, yes, but we we're certainly screwed out of our chance to make it right. Hands down worst officiated game since Bo passed. In reality, we could have won that one, but didn't due to FORCES WE COULDN'T CONTROL.
A win there would put us and State both at 1 loss, even with the trash bowl occurring. But do you remember the MSU win over Wisconsin? Of course you do. A pure Wisconsin hating god intervention that led to a miracle hail Mary victory for Sparty. Once again, FORCES WE COULDNT CONTROL.
If not for these things, in one season Hoke and the Wolverines would have navigated to a potential BIG title in their freshman campaign. Just realized this last night.
Neg me, agree, disagree, whatever. At least admit that this is some pretty exciting shit.

Take the logic of what someone says and try to apply it to fringe cases and use that as being sufficient to shoot down the entire statement? You're deliberately ignore important facts of the case such as the fact that Michigan State has the same record as you while playing a more difficult schedule and that they won the previous 3 meetings before this one. Are any of those facts true for Iowa State? because if not, your comparison is extremely weak.

the BCS computer rankings show that UM had an overall tougher schedule.

Do you think they'd still beat us today, if we played again in the dome in Indy? I don't. I think it's a bit more like Clemson and VaTech. Not the same teams now as they were when they played earlier in the year.

The way the team improved as the season progressed I really wish we could play MSU again. I think we would score 40 on them.

Don't really care. To see a 10-2 team who easily could have won both games they lost is a huge success to me. Yeah we stole a game against ND, but that's what good teams do. We have a good football team. Can't really dwell on what might have been, just use mistakes and losses as motivation for the future.

We lost two games we could have won (MSU, Iowa), and won two games we could have lost (ND, OSU). That's pretty typical. It's rare to win all your close games.
What I really liked about this season was that the majority of the time (8 games) we left no doubt that we were the better team and won comfortably.

Could not have said it better. +1

Michigan didn't capitalize on them. Ultimately, that's on us and no one else. The kids played hard and Michigan beat the sweater vest tat club.
Oh, and all the griping about calling them "Ohio" is nonsense. If Hoke called them "Ohio State" then someone would gripe about not calling them "Ohio State University". If Hoke called them that, then someone else would ask for it to be "the" OSU. Frankly, "Ohio" is the best you should expect. And the "Ohio" marching band is pretty darn good, for what it's worth.

By the end of the night we're going to be looking at a better bowl game than little brother.
