RichRod to speak to Tulane about HC position
Two stories from sportsNOLA.com lay this out. RR is calling the Southern Miss game this weekend, and is expected to make a detour to New Orleans to meet with the Tulane administration as well as reunite with the 1998 Tulane football team (that he was a coordinator for).
Sources tell sportsNOLA.com that Rodriguez is expected to speak with Tulane officials this week about the Green Wave football head coaching position.

Yeah no doubt that Tulane is below him. I think that he is advising them b/c of his past connections. Kinda like Les and Jim did and referrred Hoke to DB during the search.

I think it'd be a good fit. He's got the history there, he'll be closer to where he appears to have success recruiting, he won't face the stiffest competition week-in and week-out (not a shot at him, just a statement of fact) and Three and Out made it seem quite clear that he probably wanted his next job to be relatively drama-free which this position clearly is. I bet he has success there.

This would be a good job for him to take. A relatively low-pressure gig at a school he's familiar with. He's not likely to land a "destination" job next time around after his experience at Michigan. Wherever he goes next will probably (if all goes well) be a steppingstone to another high-level job. So he may as well take this if he can. He probably has a greater chance of success at Tulane than at Ole Miss.

They may be leery because of the investigation here at Michigan (still makes me mad what a crock of shit that was), but I keep feeling like UNC would be a fantastic fit for RR.

Good for him. I hope he gets a head coaching position next year and does well. I wish him the best.

Tulane would be a great fit.Recruiting 2 and 3 star kids is what he does best and Tulane would would be getting an upgrade from their current recruiting.

Wow, I may finally have a reason to be interested in my grad school's FB program

RR's predicament is somewhat similar to Mike Leach, who also had great Offensive success (at TT), but hasn't been able to land HC job. RR didn't lock Craig James' son in a closet but he did leave two programs on probation (no matter if it was deserved). With heightened concerns about reputations and AD's seeking to avoid controversy, I would be surprised if a BCS school offered him at this point. The most likely alternatives would be (a) rebuild/reclaim his reputation as a HC at a smaller Southern school like Tulane or (b) become the OC for a BCS school with a great Defense in need of an Offensive jolt...

Wait...wait...I thought he was supposed to retire in Ann Arbor?!

If I'm RR and I get this gig, the first call I'm making to an assistant coach is Tom Bradley.

I don't think anyone other than Dana Holgorsen will be at WVA for awhile. That dude is going to take that program places. Love his offense. He's taken the Air Raid and added power running to it. Give him a few years, and I'll predict he wins a Big 12 Championship.

Hope he gets the job and does a great job. RichRod was a good person, and he tried hard here against a sea of challenges. Not sure he's head coaching material however, given his cavernous lack of attention to defense. More of a real good offensive coordinator. EIther way, wish him well and I'll always remain a fan.

I would like to see him at penn state. They are obviously going to have to clean house. They have some athletes there...it might be the big ten's worst nightmare but that seems right up his alley.

Michigan or a university team coached by Rich Rodriguez?

If he wants to get away from the microscope of the media, Tulane's the place to go.
Was at the SU-Tulane game this year. Syracuse fans well outnumbered Tulane fans - they must have had like 2,000 there.
