How about a link to the article so we know what your talking about?

Or it didn't happen...

Why do LMGTFY posts get negged? The man is doing us all a favor and doing the leg-work for us. And he's showing us how he got there! I, for one, will always pos-bang a LMGTFY.

Dang, double post.

Bo's Friday night dinner consisted of clam chowder, salad, steak, baked potato and a couple other things that I can't remember off the top of my head (I don't have any of the Bo books in front of me). Guys also used to get a chocolate chip cookie before bedtime.

Drat, this was a real thing? Now my below comment looks fantastically ass hatish.
August 24th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
I also forgot to mention that Moeller and Carr continued with that tradition of having the same Friday night meal and the cookie delivery at night. Hoke's bringing it all back it seems.

Translator82--that was pretty good for off the top of your head! I found a mention of clam chowder in Bo's Lasting Lessons through Google Books (couldn't copy the text, so here's a screenshot of the relevant passage):

finds it funny that a guy's name is Dick Hunter.
August 24th, 2011 at 6:06 PM ^
....is that Dick Hunter chose the movie where a (presumably) naked girl was chased out of a bathtub by (presumably) a group of males.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:32 AM ^
of Dick Hunter's movie about a naked girl, they watch a movie about Dirty Harry, a guy who chases around another guy with a "huge revolver"

Sounds like a fantastic meal.

I'm hungry.

If you don't know about Michigan's traditional clam chowder, GTFO.
August 24th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
The headline is, "Michigan football coach Brady Hoke talks about bringing back traditions and more".
There is precisely one "tradition" that is discussed. It is "clam chowder," and I am not at all sure but what that "tradition" has been continuing the last three years in any event.
The meme continues; Michigan Man... tradition... fit... "gets it"... countdown... rivals... toughness...
And now, "clam chowder."
Thanks, Mark Snyder. You've been as helpful today as you usually are.

I upvote all posts about clam chowder.

Especially in a bread bowl. Yum.

...chowda! I'll kill you! I'll kill all of you! Especially those of you in the jury!"

The film that is now sold as the DVD "Vintage Bo" features some pretty great footage of one such team meal during the 1970 season, followed by priceless footage of Bo telling the team to "synchronize their watches," and then even more great footage of Bo delivering the famous cookies himself.
Great tradition, glad it's coming back, and somewhat surprised it went somewhere in the first place.
August 24th, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
I don't think the clam chowder tradition went away. There were numerous player tweets talking about it on Friday nights last season.
August 24th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
Hoke was talking about getting a commitment from Channing Crowder, eligibility-be-damned.
August 24th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
we should start a Friday night Chowder thread?
August 24th, 2011 at 5:02 PM ^
The red or the white?
August 24th, 2011 at 5:56 PM ^
Aww, I never remember that! The white?
August 24th, 2011 at 5:58 PM ^
Well done. I was kind of worried that no one else got that reference.

they'll find Jimmy Hoffa before they find any humpback whales
August 24th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
Awww I can never remember that.
August 24th, 2011 at 5:18 PM ^
We should all carry on this tradition ourselves. I offer to grill the steaks and make the salads....

August 24th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
You sir, will be blasted by devotees of both types as well as all the less well-known variants. Of course, New England Clam Chowder beats that red stuff any day of the week.
August 25th, 2011 at 1:56 AM ^
I can never remember that! White?

As an employee of the Campus Inn during the magical 1997 season, as well as the 1998 season, I can attest to the fact that there was clam chowder served in large plastic pitchers at meals at the CI on the Friday nights before games. I do not recall if it was also served on Saturday morning gameday breakfasts, but I would hope not. THey ate steak, lasagna, and clam chowder every Friday night before games, then Lloyd would give a talk and they would all congregate in a banquet room to watch a movie.
August 24th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
I also recall being extremely worried each game day that they would all come down with food poisoning and wretch all over the field before being massively defeated. In fact, I think that is what happened when they lost to 'Cuse in 98. Either that or the McNabb.

what other little known pregame traditions go on surrounding the Michigan team?
Pregame tailgating traditions could also be included as well
