OT: Hype Song suggestion
Apologize in advance if this is too RAWK for some of you. I happen to think that the best hype videos are rock songs heavy on drums, or rap with good beats. The problem I see with rap is too many bad lyrics which detracts from the video. I'm tired of movie quotes and "Better son/daughter".
So anyway, I purchased the new 3 Doors Down album yesterday and I thought the title track was pretty good. Lyrics are topical for UofM fans, and the drums would make for great synchnig with defensive hits and Denard running.
If anyone is thinking of a hype video I'd highly suggest this song.
Youtube video is rather poor audio quality, but enough for you to get a feel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FBmMV9lOas
Lyrics:
Another day in some other place
could someone please remind me
where the hell we are?
Another night I feel it come to life
How could this go so far?
The life I love is the one I lead
It gets crazy but that's fine by me
Chorus:
'cause I don't see the day
when I run all night
But I've got to say, there's no other way
I'm having the time of my life
The words you sing bring back memories
of so many days that have gone
I look back and smile at those forgotten miles
and laugh at all that went wrong
what I am is what I want
and I'll be this way 'til I'm dead and gone
Chorus
For me that's all I need
To Live the way I please
Chorus
There's some things that I can't make right
and it's been so long Lord since I've been home
but I'm having the time of my life.
You should be banned for this purchase.
Move in three doors down from Bolivia.
I've purchased worse. (blushing)
Somebody needs to take away your credit card.
OP needs to know when to say when.
Not only did you not have a hype video, nor did you suggest us to see another institutions' hype video. Rather you came on here, and created a post of the utmost indecency insulting the hard work of other fine citizens of this blog who actually contribute content (i.e. Hype videos).
But that is not all... you proceeded to make a suggestion by way of lyrics. Lyrics man! Damn it. That's all you had to show, lyrics.
I won't even go into the obscene profanity of a band that you offered up, which was perhaps the most foul thing you did amongst this sacrilege of a post.
I will leave you now with a revised quote:
""A firm rule must be imposed upon our blog and people like you before it destroys itself. The blog needs some censorship and geometry, some taste and decency. I suspect that we are teetering on the edge of the abyss.”
got dang, take stuff way toooo seriously.
about this blog is posters like you. Did you really think it was necessary to write a whole post berating a person's preference in music? Real mature.
The OP simply said he was tired of the normal music selections and offered up an alternative. Completely reasonable. Please, do us a favor and get over yourself.
On a forum yes, but people you've known forever who brag about seeing DMB 5 times this year... NO
Says the person with a photoshopped cat picture as their profile photo...one of the most overused, unfunny memes on the interwebs (sorry to all mgoblog users who love the cats, but yes...I went there). LOLcats were funny in 1998.
Complain about the song choice all you want, that's why I offered it up merely as an alternative to the songs others have used. But, the majority of your rant is grossly misplaced as my title clearly states "Hype SONG" and "Suggestion". No where in the title did I mislead you into thinking it had anything to do with a VIDEO or an original creation. I included lyrics and a low-fi version of the song since it has been out for only a few days I could not find a higher quality version. But, since this band is not of your liking anyway, the quality is really trival, as nothing would have met your high standards.
Thanks for playing, please enjoy another Eminem, Journey, or Rilo hype video.
RILO KILEY
I have a hunch the man in your avatar isn't a fan of girlie indie rock.
I find that song boring and the electronic beeps are annoying. It's like listening to coldplay have sex with an atari game.
Just my opinion, I obviously have different music preferences.
Yeah, I take no offense.. Why would I? I suggested it because I thought you were making hype video.. It would work much better in that sense.
Check this out. You will like this much more. Umphreys Mcgee they are my favorite band. They are a prog jamband from south bend. I've seen them 16 times I'm willing to bet you like this.
My Favorite drum beat ever. Also a good hype song for 2011.
Its really more annoying when people, such as the above poster, take things way to seriously and blow up on somebody. So to you sir, i say, AMEN!
Too RAWK? Two words come to mind. Tuna pants.
Meh...I tried. The AC/DC hype video from like 3 years ago is still my favorite, and I hate that because AC/DC is so overdone.
ian was out of line any more than the OP. just as the OP has the freedom to post crappy bands that he likes, ian has the freedom to knock him down for it.
I think the hype videos are good how they are. they work. they get you jacked up for the season. why fix something that isnt broken? sure, you could maybe make it "better" but you can also ruin it completely with a bad song.
Not a big fan of heavy metal. Rather take the rap. I'm not a Kanye fan but I was watching some Michigan hype video on Youtube the other day, it seemed alright.
This is porbably one of the most overused songs for hype videos, but why not.
Still love this song for hype videos, it's definitely on my workout playlist. I can't help but to get excited every time I hear it.
While we're at it, let's get one going for the Goo Goo Dolls and Nickelback as well.
Nah, Goo Goo Dolls are WAY to intense for a hype video
The 4th movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
Going with the classical theme, perhaps Suppe's Light Cavalry Overture:
How about some Tchaikovsky?
or some Wagner
"The Ride Of The Valkyries" would work great, I think.
Or some New York Counterpoint, featuring my favorite instrument, the clarinet (and bass clarinet)?
The Maino video of Denard is still my absolute favorite. Sadly, it got taken down.
A combo of Right Above It-Lil Wayne and This Plane-Wiz Khalifa is still pretty good though.
At least it wasn't Nickelback or Creed.
I think someone should kick it old school, and use the song Call On Me.
original song is better, but the video for Eric Prydz makes it much better.
Dubstep hype video? someone do it
I think some type of Amy Winehouse song would also work well for an OSU hype video this season.
Too Soon?
ahahah i shouldn't be laughing. But I couldn't help myself
How about "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban?
/Sarcasm
My fav hype video is still the "aMAIZEing" one. Using kanye's "Amazing" gets me hype and the video was actually well done.
This thread is ghey
Different Strokes for different folks, but I can't stand 3 Doors Down. So imho, I think that this is a horrendous idea. And while hip hop is far from the only music I listen to, I think it's the ideal music for any hype video. Also, someone earlier had mentioned dubstep, which I don't think would be too shabby of an idea...
Ya, I don't really see how you can get "hype" in the actual sense of the word to 3 Doors Down or RAWK music. Getting hype goes with hip hop.
