TomVH: Bri'onte Dunn Update

Submitted by TomVH on
If you read the Weekly update you know that Ohio RB Bri'onte Dunn might visit for the BBQ on the 31st. I spoke with someone I trust today about him and I believe that Bri'onte's situation is starting to change. By that I mean he has seen what decision Kyle Kalis made and it's making him think about what he's going to do. I had said previously that the two year bowl ban would be the key, but it's starting to look like that might not even be the main factor. Playing early and playing in bowl games is what he wants. I'm not saying he's decommitting, but I'm saying he's starting to think about everything a little differently than before. Again I'm on my phone so excuse the formatting.

A lot faster straight away and more athletic?  Look, I'm not saying A-Train was the fastest RB we ever had, but I haven't exactly heard anyone raving about Dunn's speed either.  Saying he's "a lot" faster is a stretch.  Anthony Thomas was one of the best backs his senior year, and one of the best M's ever had.  Let's not go overboard.

This is getting down right comical.  The kid is coming to UM, I can feel it.  We have half the studs in OH recruiting Dunn for us now.  Not to mention his cuz Dymonte is in hear ear all day about UM.  I'm not sure who could honestly argue the fact that there's more opportunity on and off the field in AA for him.  He has less competition(manball) than at TSIO, and he'd be coming in with an undeniably stronger OL class that at Suckeyeville (one of the best ever?).  How can a RB not consider this SERIOUSLY?  Brionte and his father seem to be pretty bright, you can bet this is being discussed.  That's what Tom means by factors other than the bowl losses.  We're clearly the better choice for Dunn now, it's just a matter of time.

having their dreams soiled by JT and TP.   Trying to focus on school is hard enough for a freshmen,  asking them to step in this shit storm is just over the top.   IMO, not a tough decision especially once they visit AA.

Here's a few reasons in my opinion why Michigan just makes sense 1)Better Education than osu 2)Opportunity for early playing time/success on the field 3)Strong coaching staff 4)The BIGGEST stadium in the country Even if Dunn doesn't Go Blue, I still can't wait to go down to JerryWorld next year and see all these studs roll the tide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if Dunn were to decommit.  But this sounds like great news.  Michigan could really use a big, physical, talented back like him in this class.  But, if we can't sign one, then wait until next class?  Are there are any other good options beside Dunn?

My attitude re. Dunn is, if we get him, cool.  If not, I won't be too disappointed.

Why?  I'm really, really excited about Thomas Rawls.  I think he could be a lot better than the 3 star rating he was given by the recruiting services.

Could be a toss-up whether we'll see him this year though.....  There are like 6 other tailbacks on the roster...  although I think I recall hearing the coaches aren't real enthused about any of the backs we have, and are excited about Rawls' potential.

IMO Rawls is one of the most important players to keep an eye on in camp.  If we hear good things about him, could mean he's ready to be a contributor, if not, could mean he's headed for a redshirt.

I'm not an expert at evaluating football talent, but, my reaction to that video above is that he could be a really exciting player.

Really excited for Hopkins/Rawls. But Dunn coming to UM would be great regardless. First of all its another slap to the OSU nuts' collective nuts. Secondly you can never have too many truly talented RB on a roster (see: Alabama). If Dunn/Rawls are both truly stud backs then keeping their legs fresh well into the 4th quarter would be downright unfair to a tired defense.
