I have a feeling a lot of people are going to question this offer. I like the kid though, and think he would definitely make a good FB, plus it doesn't hurt he's teammates with Dymonte either...
As a TB. Question is whether he would be willing to come to Michigan as a FB. Not a bad option.
His HS teammate being Dymonte Thomas adds additional incentive to land him.
With Dunne on the verge of decommitting I was wondering if the call was going to end in an offer as was speculated.
on taking both a HB and FB.
Which means only 8 spots left really for...
2-3 OL
2-3 DL
1 DB
1-2 WR
QB?

we received bad news on the Dunn front. There's no way we take 2 RB-like prospects in this class.
We always planned on taking both a FB and HB. It also just so happens that Hill's HS teammate is a 4-5 star TB in 2013 who is also Brionte Dunn's cousin. So quite the opposite - this might actually HELP us with Dunn.
I'm nitpicking, but I'm pretty sure we're going after Dymonte as a Safety, not a TB
That's my understanding, as well.
It seems like he is a good RB prospect, but can be an elite safety porspect.
I doubt it.
There are zero scholarship fullbacks on the roster, and Alden Hill is virtually a twin with Sione Houma, whom we've also offered as a fullback.
on offering a prospect specifically as a fullback? Seems like Michigan's past practice has been to assume that it can convert a RB or LB.
If the class is going to hit 25, I'm okay with it. If you have an offense that utilizes a fullback consistently, then you ought to commit at least one scholarship to the position. Your starter should be on schollie, and any backups ought to come from position switchers (who can't hack it anywhere else) or walk-ons.
If he commits, it will be interesting to hear what he has to say about what the coaches think his role/position will be.
Edit: just read Tom's story and he says he will be both a RB and FB, which makes sense. Someone who won't have to leave the field when they switch plays. If we get a top RB then he probably plays more of a FB role, but if we miss out then he can also be more of a RB.
In addition to having no fullbacks and that being a problem, I'm thinking Hoke and Borges would like bigger backs in the rotation. They love Hopkins at rb, we're bringing in Rawls and have offered Hill. Any would have the option of switching to fb or remaining in 2-back rotation with a back like Hayes or Dunn, assuming the latter rejects the dark side for all that's right and good.
Just imagine 3rd and goal from the tweo and we line up in the I with alden at fb and hopkins behind him.
Manball.
yes, and magnuson, kalis, banner, diamond, and braden blocking for them!!!
That would be AWESOME!!!
****double post.
The kid is a bit one dimensional. I've seen him play live and in person and he does not have the frame you look for in a FB.
