OT - ND paid more than $7m to get rid of Weis
http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/20/irish-paid-big-big-…
That's like a dollar for every calorie he ate while employed there.
Sorry but the end of the world is a little more important than that whale. Come join us about 5 threads down.
Unfortunately, rather than be embarrassed or ashamed at having to pay so much, every ND fan across the nation is likely bragging about how they can throw around this much money and how it is a sign of the superior status of their university and football program.
to put his butt on the back of his body
That's a lotta cheddar.
Jokes on him. He went to Florida, not Wisconsin.
There was a rather large contribution from both the lunch buffet and folding chair insurance industries in South Bend to compensate for that number.
What do I have to do to get paid $7M to suck at my job? Right now I'm doing it for significantly less...
Be a crappy CEO at a major company, then you get paid $100 million to leave.
If Weis's Contract was 5 years long (2005-2009), and we assume that he ate about 4,000* calories a day:
365Days/Year*5Years*4000Cal/Day = 7,300,000
Uncanny
*Average for a man is between 2,000-2,500 but he's a big guy so I went with 4k
Wow, I was just about to do the same math. It ends up being about 3,835 calories per day to get you to 7mio over 5 years.
I thought about trying to figure it out and there it is, all figured out. This blog haz smarts.

ND is good to go...despite their non-B1G and low moral character.
WRT to winning - this as the right choice. Kelly has and will put out better teams. Given their TV contracts - they need to win now.
I doubt Weis would practice in a wind storm that was unlikely to match game day conditions however. That is speculation only. If true though it will end up costing them more than 7 million.
i've been baited to reply to a comment like this many times and haven't, but you got me on a bad day, so please consider the following before criticizing someone for using "OT":
i've been following this site since its inception and have had almost as many points "expire" as i currently have. you do not need to point me to the portion of the cite that lays out what is OT. i understand that brian detailed what should be labeled OT. however, i'm confident that even he would tell you that his list is neither exhaustive nor inflexible. the post may very well not be OT, but it's a close call.
it's about ND, yes, but about a former coach and his salary, not anything related to the ND team or our upcoming game against them.
the bottom line is that labeling it OT, if and to the extent that doing so was wrong, changed no one's life nor harmed the board. yesterday i posted a link to an article only hours after someone else had done the same because i simply skimmed the board rather than searching it. that's a mistake for which i was rightly criticized.
as a well functioning and self-policing board, it's better if we save these attacks for when they're needed.
Seems to me it was worth every penny.
Notre Dame brought it on themselves. Weis was barely halfway through his first season when they stupidly gave him a 5 year contract extension. Starting out 4-2, they were practically drooling over themselves and desperate to keep him. Cue ND fans pounding their chests and preaching "Return to Glory!" Part 20.
I remember smiling to myself and thinking about how I can't wait for this to come back and bite them in the ass.
Most expensive loss ever?
wrong again quite soon for Charlie at UF? There is a LOT of nervousness in Gville.
Well he needs most of it. Think of the electric bill he must have because the A/C must run 24/7 at appx. 62 deg. Its hot in FLA!
I heard that he has invested at least $4 million trying to make robots in the likeness of Little Debbie and Betty Crocker.
for ND to have to write off as useless now
