I'm not that concerned about his size. He's only a junior in high school, and we don't need him to play immediately with Roh, Black, and Beyer around. If he is indeed 215, I'm guessing he'll be at least 225-230 by the time he graduates.
I'm not a huge fan of his athleticism, but size doesn't concern me.
What do you think of him as a package? Is he a "good get" beyond the benefit of keeping him out of Sparty clutches?
I don't believe in recruiting a guy just to keep him away from an opponent. I don't think a smart coach would do that. You only recruit the kids who a) you think can play for you or occasionally b) might bring along a very talented teammate/friend.
If the coaches think a kid like Ojemudia is so good that he would destroy Michigan while playing for MSU in the future, then he's probably good enough to recruit in the first place.
"I'm not a huge fan of his athleticism.."
lulz aside, he seems like a lock to redshirt in any case. What he lacks in athleticism, he seems to make up for it with his ability to stay in the play and pursuit the ball carrier. What do you think Magnus?
I hope Tim includes the death lasers in any Hello post that may come out.
Purely awesome.
You can get less athletic, high motor kids in November, December, January, and February. I'm not sure why you need to offer those kids so early.
I don't think Ojemudia would be a waste of a scholarship or anything. I just think there are several more talented kids in Ohio, and a commitment from Ojemudia might preclude those Ohioans from becoming Wolverines.
Ojemudia looks like a less athletic Tim Jamison to me. I'm not sure how others feel about that. I guess you can make up your own minds.
Magnus,
Check out MO's youtube highlight reel. He looks really athletic to me. He just needs the bulk to play on the edge.
I have.
He is also listed some places as a LB, but it seems to me the coaches are recruiting him at DE.
They're recruiting him as a WDE, like what Craig Roh plays now.
has to be mad right?
one of the posters from RCMB in the Ojemudia thread after Trieu tweeted earlier:
"Fuck me"
If we get both, they'll be devastated!
He has the frame to get above 240 by the time he graduates. A 225 pound defensive end is small, weak side or not.
Craig Roh was 230 as a recruit. He's now 251 (or more). Size really shouldn't be a concern here, especially because Ojemudia should have the luxury of redshirting and sitting on the bench for a couple years.
I agree, I was essentially saying the same thing. Come in underweight, do work in the weight room and learn to run with the big boys.
Aaron seems to be a pretty big MSU lean. Is this true? Has there been any indication of him leaning towards Michigan recently?
TomVH has previously indicated that those rumors are unfounded and he's a lot more open in his recruitment than most MSU fans would like to think. To paraphrase (since I'm too lazy to go look it up): those who think Burbridge is an MSU lock are very misinformed.
