OT: ESPN Names All-Time Best Coaches from Each State
ESPN Insider Bruce Feldman (beyond the pay wall) has made a list of 50 coaches who were the best in their state all time:
Interesting ones are Bo for Michigan (thank god over Izzo), Woody for Ohio, Geno Auriemma won for Connecticut for his work with the WBB team, and two women made the list: Pat Summit for Tennessee for WBB, and C. Vivian Stringer (Rutgers WBB) for New Jersey.

Does Rich Rod get credit for his work at WV?
I'd guess Nehlen
prior to RR or Nehlen. Food for thought, perhaps.
Yeah, but Nehlen was there a lot longer than he was. Bowden's probably a good choice for Florida.

He did not do well there.
Fred Schaus? WVU Basketball coach. Never heard of him
I might have gone with Walter Camp for Connecticut. He is the Father of American Football.
Don Nehlen would probaby be the coach for WV considering what he did before Rich Rod even showed up again.
So, it's the state where these coaches made their reputations, not where they came from....because I was ready to say West Virginia = Fielding Yost, but that doesn't fit the criteria.
and another national title will clinch it.
Also, I love Bo, but Fielding Yost was quite a badass.
I was confused at first because I figured Scotty Bowman would have Michigan locked up, but it's only college stuff.

yeah, before I clicked i figured it would be scotty also
Izzo won't be anywhere near Bo for a lot of years, in my opinion.
Izzo won't pass Bo until basketball replaces football as America's favorite sport. And I don't know if that will happen anytime soon.
Agreed. Berenson has a better resume than Bo does, but since he's not a football coach he probably wasn't even under consideration.
I second red. I bring up hutch for softball.
Hutch is an awesome, awesome coach. I'd definitely support either Yost or Berenson though. Bo was the obvious choice, and glad he won, but I don't know if he's the best coach ever from Michigan.
I can't believe C. Vivian Stringer won for the state of New Jersey. She's been coaching a bunch of nappy headed hoes the whole time!

I'm a little confused why this is an Insider article? Aren't the Insider articles supposed to give you extra information, and not just a piece that ESPN does in their summer time filling space? Like the idea, just a little confused...
But, then, it IS ESPN I guess
