Haven't watched it (didn't…

Haven't watched it (didn't know about it until you posted it), but I am in that area a lot and have watched many games there.  Between there and Belle Glade, it's a different world for sure.

I can't remember my last…

I can't remember my last post on this board as I don't do it often.  Here are my 2 cents.  I feel like this is the first game they can build something meaningful off of.  They showed fight for the first time this year.  Losing sucks, but it's providing some teachable moments.  Bell's dropped pass took the air completely out of the room I was in...heartbreaking.  Two things I saw in that game last that I haven't seen yet this year.  First year OC IS capable of making adjustments...good ones.  If the defense is going to rely on their back end like this they are going to need a lot more speed in the safeties.  I've felt that this team is a 9-3 team from the beginning of the year and I see no reason to change that opinion.

And don't mistake any of the above with acceptance of the current situation.  There is no excuse to be where they're at with the talent they have.  To me, the inconsistency on the offensive side of the ball and failure to adjust sooner over the last few years is a problem that lies directly on the shoulders of the head coach.  He needs to be a lot better in his personnel choices so that consistency and familiarity aren't a battle every year.

That would be awesome!  It's…

That would be awesome!  It's unreal how much bad luck some of these guys have fallen victim to.  He seems like a really good kid.  I am hoping it works out for him.  All the best TB!

Apparently....

but the NCAA voted against it anyway.

Have a question.....

While reading the USA Today article, I noticed this little tidbit:

"One off day per week during official preseason practice and school holidays (like winter break) is now mandatory."

Can't Harbaugh just move the timing to be between semesters/trimesters?

This applies....

to Corey Smith here at the Carolina Panthers as well.  He's still not where he should be after being here for a while.  That said, Funchess isn't exactly well rounded either.  He has a long way to go, but I know he'll work out with Proehl as his coach

I don't normally condone violence....

and I'm not saying I'd throat punch them, but I'd understand if someone did.  Punk kids...probably bullies at school.  Could use a lesson.

Shouldn't have to send

Shouldn't have to send letters like that.  That's embarrassing as a fan and alum.

I can't believe....

we cracked the code!!  That was quick!

This...

Finally gone are the days where these polls matter.  And to go a step further, the only one that REALLY matters is the final committee poll.  The rest are purely click bait.

It's terrible....

I stumbled across that page before I found this one a long while back.  I had thought I had hit the mother load, but it's exactly as you described....middle schoolish.

RCMB

You can pick any one of the 170+ pages at RCMB that they have devoted to this search.  It is by far the most viewed and participated in thread over there right now.  However, if you don't want to have to take another shower today I'll save you by simply saying it's gone from:

"you idiots are so desperate, no one would come from the NFL to Michigan",

to

"He's not that good of a coach"

to

"We still have the next two years to enjoy beating Michigan"

pretty quickly in the last two weeks.

He spoke out....

and said things everyone here was thinking.  He challenged the authority of the coach and management and was released.  His agent said it all.  He deserves much better than what the Panther coaches and front office are delivering.  Everyone on that team does.  Lots of pissed off Panther fans down here right now and rightfully so.

Continued Improvement....

is what I want to see.  Oddly enough, the offense looked like it took a step forward last week, but that was missed for all the errors the defense made.  I have to remind myself daily that this offense is learning a brand new system.  If Hoke is to blame for anything it was waiting too long to make a move on Borges IMO.  He's put himself in a no win situation.

ETA:  I want to see Brandon shown the door as well.  I've had enough.

The AP rankings....

Don't matter to committee (supposedly).  It's been nice to not have all the ranking discussion going on like we usually have.  Oct 28 is the first ranking that's going to matter.  We'll see what the committee comes out with.

Local Fans....

you should go watch this kid play.  He's pretty good.  I'd love to see him at Michigan.  Tons of potential.

Guys....

this isn't a competition thing.  It's a $$ thing.  I live in the CLT area and go to this game just about every year for free.  This year, they were giving 50 yard line tickets away.  When it was all said and done, their average ticket prices was under $10 per.  That changes if they get Clemson playing FSU.  Schools here don't travel like those in the B1G outside of FSU and Clemson and this year the FSU fans didn't really travel all that well.

The motivation here is....

to boost sales to their conference championship game.  I live in the Charlotte, NC area and get tickets to this game all the time.  This year, they were giving away 50 yard line tickets.  The average cost per ticket was under $10 when all was said and done.  Reality is, until Miami gets their crap together and starts playing football again, it's always going to be either FSU or Clemson vs no one anyone wants to see.  If I were Swafford, I'd be doing a realignment and putting Clemson on the other side of FSU.  The current alignments were driven by basketball rivalries prior to them poaching the bball schools from the BE.  Now that they have those schools the original rivalries can't exist anyway so they might as well blow the whole thing up.  Swafford is a trainwreck.

Anything

that deemphasizes the current polls works for me.  If they want to blow up the current polling system, I'd be fine with poll driven selections, but until that happens, using them is pointless.  It doesn't matter HOW you use them, they are crap so the result from using them will be crap.

Honestly....

If they don't do something about this dumb polling process (the method they use to rank these teams in the first place) it doesn't matter if they have a playoff or not.  Garbage in = Garbage out regardless of what the "out" looks like.

That....

makes me nervous actually.  Isn't there some sort of "rule" around this?  With the crap the NCAA comes up with in the form of "rules" this seems like something they'd have thought of, no?

This only works

if they change how the rankings are done.  If you have a crap cake sitting in front of you, the flavor of icing is your least concern.

Welcome

Scouts has him listed as a TE/DE.

They can have "#1" as long as

They can have "#1" as long as Michigan gets "#2 - #10"

"THE University of Ohio

"THE University of Ohio State"....cracks me up every time.

Nothing to see here....

This was a slap on the wrist.

Peter Kalambay

I was at this kid's game last week and thought to myself he'd be a great fit at UM.  He makes you take notice when he's on the field.

exactly....

this will be the biggest problem for Butch to overcome.

What I mean by....

"UNC wasn't ready for big time football".  Here's a perfect illustration.  UNC has 26 sports total (men/women combined).  Alabama has 12.  Alabama had over DOUBLE the amount of staff in the compliance dpeartment than UNC did and most of them were for football.  I was kind of shocked when I heard that but it puts this whole thing in perspective.  Players and agents had pretty much an open forum for a few years.  I suspect that will change quickly now.

Living here in the area....

I don't think it's going to be as bad as a lot of folks think and I think Butch's history at Miami and the fact they he benched a bunch of players from the start will be a big part of why it's not as bad.  There is one glaring problem that Butch has and it is that he hired the cheater, knowing he was a cheater.  The reality is, UNC was ill equipped to handle big time football players and agents lurking all over the place.  It's much easier to manage a few basketball players than it is to manage all those highly touted football players.

I'm not making any excuses for him, but I just have this gut feeling that he's gonna get off easier than a lot of people think.  When that happens, the NCSU fans are going to jump off the cliff.  They're about as unstable as MSU fans.

This is a systemic problem.....

but for folks to realize it they have to admit they were wrong.  It's much easier to blame the kid than admit they were duped or bought into the vest meme.

I don't see how they get ANY

I don't see how they get ANY big name until the verdict on their punishment is in.  I've been wrong before though.

What happened to....

serving out the punishment with the team and all that crap?  I'm not sure why I am angry with this whole thing.  Is it because I bought in to the "he's different" crap OSU was throwing out or because they'll never be able to even the score with him?

Regardless, he's quit....move on with the speculation of the usual suspects (Pederson, Patterson, Pelini, Meyer, etc).  In all honesty, we know the NCAA is about to release the fury on the school.  Who really wants to go there at this point?  Lane Kiffin's the only one dumb enough to go to a school with that kind of crap rolling down.

This....

was my first thought as well.

An inspirational speaker once told me.....

Character/Integrity isn't defined by what you are doing when the cameras are rolling and all eyes are on you.  Character/Integrity is defined by what you do when no one is watching.

I am sold that....

Hoke and company can recruit with the best of them.  Now they have to get results on the field.  If their ability to coach is 1/3 their ability to recruit, they'll be alright by 2012

If I had to guess....

it goes something like this:

"meh...we knew he was blue all the way.  MD doesn't like small guys and really didn't want him.  We're recruiting nationally now and we can find better players elsewhere"

something like that.

I wonder this also....

I don't get the quick locking and even sometimes complete removal of threads  Are they that high strung?

Went over there...

for the first time last week to lurk.  Holy crap, I can't stop reading it now.  If there was a message board version of a train wreck, it's that page.

Foul Ball

That is all.

Only when I see it, will I

Only when I see it, will I believe it.

Majorly disappointing article....

It's intellectually lazy IMO.  Why on earth do you take one team from a conference and label the whole conference?  This is why I HATE "conference" talk.  It always devolves into this kind of lazy thinking.  I had little use for Tony prior to this, now even less....if that's possible.  I get that they do this to generate traffic, but any writer worth their salt can do so without resorting to this garbage.

All of this....

still points back to the alums.  Shame on them for allowing themselves to be kept away or shame on them for not wanting to be involved.  And since when does one have to be "invited" back to their home?  That's simple BS also.

This is very true....

all fan bases have them.  It's proportion that is concerning when talking about OSU.

Coming back??

Where are they going to go?  Posey might be a 3-4 round type of player, the others would be doing themselves a disservice to leave.

Going to NCSU per ESPN....not

Going to NCSU per ESPN....not sure how reliable they are though.

Personally, I think you are

Personally, I think you are missing on the "why" people are comparing him to Carr.  A lot of folks liked things just the way they were under Carr and that's why we get the comparison to Carr, not because Hoke was on his staff.  There is a lot of belief out there that if they get to winning 9-10 games a year and about .500 in bowl games then Michigan is "back".

Any evidence I give you is

Any evidence I give you is going to be anecdotal at best.  Through the mid-late 2000s it was brutal to watch B10 football.  It just was.  Watching UM yearly they were destine to win almost all the games they should and lose to OSU.  What was UM's biggest win from say 2002 - 2007?  I can tell you what the worst loss was.

No offense intended but...

this is like saying RR "improved" every year because he was getting more wins.  During Carr's last years, the B10 was in a downward spiral and mediocrity was the order of the day.  Racking up wins in a conference in that condition then getting smashed in bowl games isn't my cup of tea.  Yes, on paper Carr "maintained".  On paper RR was improving.
